Looking for somewhere to go with my mum who uses a scooter to get around and decided to try here and had a fun afternoon. Suitable for her and both of us enjoyed it. Staff friendly and informative. Loved the fly show at 2pm 3 birds were flying, over head at times. Highly recommend PS5 for adults PS4 for children. Entrance through Fletcher's shop
Absolutely lovely place and a must to visit, especially with children. I first came 15 years ago and it's great to read the stories of the animals that have been rescued. We arrived just in time to watch the birds of prey display which was very entertaining and the host told us the story of each bird. The centre is staffed by volunteers and the entry fee goes towards looking after the animals and helping future rehoming.
An absolutely fantastic little Animal sanctuary. We went to fletchers garden centre and this little gem is behind it. The animals are so wonderfully cared for and loved. The staff all volunteers are amazing, lovely and friendly. And to top it all off, it is only PS5 for an adult to get in. And I think a family of four just PS16. In todays turn to me that is absolutely fantastic. What can you get for PS5 these days. My wife and myself went and absolutely loved a few hours there. There is a birds flying display at 2pm weather provided. And it is absolutely wonderful to watch. If you haven't been here then you must do. It's a great little for hours out for both adults and children.
What a lovely place, so much to do and see here. Some beautiful items in the shops, the restaurant and the ice-cream parlour. The Wildlife centre was soo good. Really really topped our expectations. So many different animals from reptiles, to cats, owls and shetlands. It's great for all ages. The flying show for the birds/owls were super. The commentator/handler is really funny and the animals are very well looked after. During the show you can also see how much the birds/owls trust their handlers. All of the outside animals had boards with all their information on including backstories of that particular animal that was in the enclosure. The train ride was good too, well worth the money. The gift shop for the Wildlife Centre also had us gobsmacked. Generically, when you go to places similar to here the gift shop prices are usually very expensive. Here, they're so cheap! We could have bought lots with just PS10. We can't wait to return here.
PS5 per adult and a lovely afternoon out! We were 2 adults so didn't spend as long as a family might, but still a good 2 hours including the flying show. Loads of birds, healthy and look well looked after, knowledgeable volunteers, and detailed signs!
Visited Gentleshaw Wildlife Centre on Fathers Day. It's right at the back of the garden centre and we did end up going into the railway by accident but found it eventually! PS5 for adults to go in and free for our 11month old and it's brilliant value for money. There's a lot of animals to see, lots of different birds of prey but also monkeys, reptiles, pony's, meerkats and more. The animals were active and looked in good health. We liked learning about each animal's personality by reading the plaques on the wall. A lot of the animals are rehomed from pets so it's nice to see them in a comfortable space that suits their needs. We watched the birds of prey display and loved it. 4 birds flown and the staff encouraged them to show natural behaviours, like hovering. The lady running the display knew each bird well, telling us about their species and personality. She was also really funny and you could tell she cares a great deal about the birds. Almost the whole thing was wheelchair and pushchair friendly. The only bit we couldn't go to was the emus and goats as the path turned from concrete to mud and my husbands chair wouldn't cope. The ramp out is a little steep but manageable. We didn't look for toilets so unsure about their access. Overall, a lovely visit and we will absolutely be going back!
