This museum is dedicated to the life and legacy of Angus MacAskill, a Scottish giant who stood at an incredible 7 feet 9 inches tall. The museum showcases a collection of artifacts and exhibits that tell the story of MacAskill's life, including his childhood, his career as a strongman, and his later years. Visitors can see a range of items, including MacAskill's clothing, personal belongings, and even a replica of his giant chair. The museum also features interactive exhibits and displays that explore the science behind gigantism and the social and cultural context in which MacAskill lived.
I was in Scotland for 14 days in June, my first trip there. Visiting this museum was my highlight. Mr MacAskill who runs the museum was such a nice person. He is a genuine Scottish gentleman. I am from cape Breton and a MacAskill. I really felt like this was part of home. Then to find out he is also Danny Macaskill's dad was icing on the cake. Great stories.
Very cute little museum with a fascinating story
I love these little local snapshots of history. This place is great, loads of information on the life Angus MacAskill whom I would have never have heard of without coming here. We rang the visitors bell a few times and nobody came but the sign says just to enter so we did. My daughter hates dummies so be warned, it's a big one!! There was a mountain bike near the door which seemed out of place until my son started flipping out because there was a photo of Danny MacAskill by it, who he recognised as he follows him on youtube so there's obviously a family connection there. Shame we didn't talk to anyone to get more info about that but I enjoyed reading the many info boards about Angus who seemed like a really lovely man
Amazing little experience with a very friendly gentleman who sang us a song.
A gem we discovered on a route around the Isle of Skye. It is small but packed with fascinating information about Giant Angus MacAskill as well as a warm welcome from the gentleman who runs it.
The museum is quirky and interesting. Peter, the owner, is very friendly and down-to-earth, and it was great to him about his life and his son Danny MacAskill, of whom my husband and I are fans. As an added bonus the bike Danny used in his film "Wee Day Out" is in the museum!
