Cablecar rides offering sweeping views to the peak of Gibraltar's Rock, plus a cozy snack bar.
The location is wonderful. but the cable car ride disappointed me. There are 2 ways to go up. there are those who bought the tickets in advance and those who can buy them on the spot. There is no difference. they all stand in the same queue when going up the cable car car. We went on a weekday. Tuesday. and we stood in line for 1h 30 min. considering that the return ticket you receive is valid for 3 hours when you get off. that means you have 1h 30 left min for visiting. When you reach the top. the places to visit are not marked or specify how long it takes to arrive. The view and the panorama are worth it. but the organization leaves much to be desired
Nice views once at the top...approximately 1 hour to walk down. Lines are extremely inefficient. Whether you buy the ticket online or in person, you still have to wait on the line just the same - waited 2 1/2 hours in the heat for a six minute ride and one hour to walk down.
A long queue to buy the tickets and to get on the ride. At the top, there's a gorgeous view of the ocean, the rocks, and city below. There is also a nice restaurant, plus the nature habitat of monkeys. The Skywalk attraction was pointless as the transparent floor was dirty and unclear, so the effect wasn't actualised. It needs cleaning... especially the underneath. That's about it. The whole thing is oversold. Not worth the long queues or price.
Get there early to avoid queues and any traffic between attractions, first cart up is 0930, i would be on that one . Cheapest tickets are on https://naturereserve.gi/ Everywhere else is twice the ammount. They include entry to all attractions. You won't need a return cable cart, your better off walking down then back up. Once at the top the order to visit with least walking distance is: 1) Skywalk 2) Uphill to O'Hares battery 3) Down hill to St Micheal's cave 4) Across the hill to Apes Den 5) Keep going across to Jubilee bridge. 6) Straight past the visitors centre and WW2 tunnels to great seige tunnels (all uphill) 7) All down hill to visitors centre, then WW2 Tunnels. 8) WW2 tunnels to Moorish castle 9) Down the steps into the highstreet.
It was a nice experience, but only a few minutes. The queue started on the street. Waiting time was 1 hour and 40 minutes. Not worth the waiting time. Make sure you are very early in the morning AND pre-order tickets. The queue for pre-ordered tickets is shorter. The "Upper rock nature reserve" was very nice.
For the price, it's really only necessary when it's hot outside or for speed of you are time constrained. There are other ways to get to the top that are free but may take 45 minutes. The ride on the cable car was only a few minutes.
