This forest offers a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life, with its serene atmosphere and scenic views. Take a leisurely stroll along the gentle trails, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature, and enjoy the beauty of the woodland. The forest is home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, birds, and insects, and is a haven for nature lovers and those seeking a relaxing escape.
We did the gruffalo trail walk. Really nice easy to do with toddlers and young children. No trail for pushchairs. Bathrooms, play area near the cafe. The walk was short, but it took us about an hour to enjoy the forest views.
Had a lovely walk around Gisburn Forest. The walk we did (I think it was the Dale Head ramble) was listed as strenuous, I would agree that it was, due to the uphill climbs. Perhaps we went the wrong way, but the route felt longer than described. The only disappointment was the loud work being done in one area, but the rest of the walk was nice and peaceful. I wish more of the walk went through the actual forest, rather than next to it, but it was still lovely.
We did the 13kms walk around the lake April 2024. It rained the entire walk so we got soaked, but just as we were starting to get fed up, there was something new or different to look at, including the bird hut, the view at the top of the hill was amazing, the little bridge to go over, the stones slabs, the reservoir, the waterfall, the little bench near the end of the walk. Definitely need walking boots on if wet. Not for a beginnerjust because of the distance, if you have allday then go for it! Well signposted if you keep the stocks to your left, for a part of the walk you cannot see the reservoir once up the hill but do not worry you are going the right way!
Had so much fun here. Been multiple times and going again later this week. Good mixture of tech trails and jump lines
