Brilliant place. All volunteers. Free parking; easy access. Wheelchair friendly. Very welcoming and knowledgeable staff. A big bonus for me is that both hides are close to the car park. Excellent viewing scopes, free to use. Small snack/ gift/ book shop with amazing nest cameras footage of both nests and growing chicks (see photo). I took my camera, plus 200/600mm lens and 1*4 multiplier but it wasn't enough.I took a couple of photos, of course, but the were well below average. However the photo shown is from their nest camera showing on the large flat screen. The chick's seemed close to fledging. Donations are welcome and by mid morning there were several amounts of paper money in the box. The small snacks/gifts/books shop within the first hide offered teas and coffee and you can top up your bill with a donation, since the whole place is without charge. My 600mm x 1*4=840mm was far to short for anything reasonable. My guess is you'd need 1800 to 2000mm to reach the kind of detail given by their scopes. Their ice cream is delicious. You could do worse than to make several visits. One of the best sites I've ever visited.
Excellent set up of a visiting center and a hide to observe the nests of the ospreys. There are monoculars provided and also cameras pointed at the nests to observe the chicks and adults. Volunteers are very friendly and knowledgeable. Also a great opportunity to observe smaller birds that feed next to the visitor centre. Would strongly recommend, we very much enjoyed the experience!
Where to start....Super friendly people... amazing volunteers! There is a free parking and toilet facility.... Plus little cafe. You can use the provided telescopes to view ospreys and the volunteers are ever so friendly to help you.
Absolutely loved this place, went to see the ospreys first and foremost, but the views around take your breath away!! All the volunteers at the centre are lovely too
