This viewpoint offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Highlands, with the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct, a 380-meter long railway bridge, standing majestically in the distance. On a clear day, the vista stretches as far as the Ben Nevis mountain range, while the nearby Loch Shiel provides a serene and picturesque backdrop.
A great place to visit even in the rain! The car park is not expensive and is large but this place is heavily visited during busy times so be patient and prepared! A must for all Harry Potter fans. Well kept and litter free. An easy walk from the carpark to view the viaduct. Do choose sensible footwear as it is still a track that can flood during heavy rain. I was astonished to see visitors in trainers and open shoes.
It's a good walk up to the viewpoint, we could see the viaduct and the Monument clearly but unfortunately it was that windy and wet we didn't stay up too long. We aren't Harry Potter fans but just wanted to visit whilst seeing Scotland and had to pay PS10 for parking because we were in a van whereas other camper vans had parked in car parking spaces for PS5. The cafe was shut but the outside stall was open serving hot drinks and food. Unfortunately due to the weather we had to sit in our vehicle to enjoy our drinks. The shop and toilets were good and the shop reasonably priced. Staff all friendly and polite.
Visiting this place was an absolute dream come true for me and a very emotional experience. Seeing the Viaduct was sensational as it is so beautiful with unbeatable views of the Highlands all around it. It was very busy the day we visited but everyone was very respectful of each other and everyone got a good view of the Jacobite train passing over. The train passes Eastbound at 10:45am and Westbound at 3:20pm daily despite what the website says but get there early to get a good view. If you're a Potterhead like me, this is a definite MUST experience as you really feel part of the films just being here.
Nice place. Been here 11,years ago and it was a wilderness. Now it is a touristically developed place with a hiking train that allowed us to watch the Jacobite train go by. How very cool!
Pretty place, especially if you are a Harry Potter fan. Be sure to also go down to the memorial. Nice facilities, but the parking lot was a bit dodgy. Apparently they are working on it. The shop is lovely as well.
Fabulous tourist attraction, very busy. However, it has an amazing vantage point for watching the regular crossing of the Jacobite steam train Aka, The Harry Potter Train. There is expensive limited parking available (card only) close by is a National Trust Scotland shop, public toilets, and small cafe for refreshments.
