This museum is dedicated to the life and music of Alton Glenn Miller, an American big band musician, arranger, and composer. It showcases a collection of memorabilia, including photographs, instruments, and personal belongings, as well as interactive exhibits and a recreated 1940s-style ballroom. Visitors can explore the museum's exhibits, which highlight Miller's career and the music of the big band era, and even take a dance lesson or two in the ballroom.
Once a year this museum is open to the public. A good 5 min drive via a private long winding road road. Entry was PS5. Huge space, mostly flat and easy access. The museum is spread over quite a few small buildings. All on ground floor bar one small section that goes up a short flight of stairs. Interesting history especially for Glenn Miller fans. There is a Twinwoods festival weekend at the end of August for camping but also day access. Nice NAAFI cafe area with good strong tea & instant coffee. Basic toilet facilities. Staff were very friendly and very helpful. Worth a visit.
Great historic location with many interesting aspects of life during WWII. Nice friendly staff with lots of knowledge, well worth the small sum of PS5 for entry. Called into the museum the day after attending the Shuttleworth evening flying display this weekend, If I lived nearer I would visit regularly. Credit to all those enthusiasts involved.
Great festival, started as The Glenn Miller festival, though a bit too big now and too diverse in its scope. Still get good value for money if going for all three days.
Lovely place to visit, very informative and lots to see. Staff very knowledgeable, worth having a chat with. Google directions need a little help, sign in Clapham to assist.
Twinwood Aviation museum is on the same site Great little museum run by volunteers who are very knowledgeable and helpful Nice NAAFI for a cup of Coffee or Tea Well worth a visit
This is a bit of a gem - stuffed full of nostalgic objects that cover militaria, Glen Miller as well as the home front. I was impressed by the mini shops of the 1940s and loved the miniature railway too. The NAFFI is an authentic tearoom - quite basic refreshments for sale. Most of the site is accessible for those with mobility issues with the exception of the control room on the upper floor. Have to go back to have a look at the rest of it. Free for under 16s. Tickets quite cheap, so cash is probably best. Only open Sundays from May to September from 10 am - until 4pm.
