A 2-mile long heritage railway running on a former British Railways line, offering a scenic ride through the Staffordshire countryside, with steam and diesel locomotives hauling vintage carriages.
Lovely little narrow guage railway within the Midland Railway site. It's run by a separate group and is well worth the small ticket price for a ride along the line. The engine has the most magnificent whistle and the volunteers are very friendly and knowledgeable. Loved it.
Surprisingly good narrow gauge railway, nice engines and coaches which start off from Swanwick Jn over the level crossing then heading off into the countryside through picturesque woodlands to Newlands Inn terminus.
Lovely train experience, the staff where all friendly and the kids had a blast!
Nice little Narrow Gauge Railway that runs down into the Golden Valley from Swanwick Junction, it's ran by a friendly group of volunteers and it's well worth a ride. I used to take my train mad child quite often accessing via a footpath that runs by the Midland Railway line, however unfortunately this is now blocked so access is only via paying to ride the Midland Railway locomotive.
My grandson really liked it here. Loved the train journey. So much to see and do in the surrounding area. Model railway, vintage buses.Catch a vintage train to Butterley.
was staying at Golden Valley Camping a d decided to go down to the local station as per the website, we looked at the times and arrived 15 minutes before the time, we saw they ran every 45 minutes so we waited and waited and waited for 50 minutes and no train, so I rang the number and they said they were definitely running and gave me a time of about 15 minutes to arrive, well we waited another 45 minutes and still no train, as we was walking away a single repair engine came down and said we aren't busy so we have not been running, I can go and get a carriage but will be another 20 to 25 minutes, well all my kids were fed up a d tired of waiting so I would avoid this unless your prepared to wait forever for a 25 minute ride. very disappointed.
