A Forest Park with over 10 km of walking trails, 12 km of MTB Trails, and Destination play park. Parking for Blue Badge holders adjacent to the play park. If you take the challenging walk to the summit of Mullaghcarn you will be rewarded with magnificent views. Entrance is FREE. Campbase Adventures offer Mountain Bike and E-bike Hire, an Uplift Service and various Trail Head Services at the Forest Park. The cafe is now open (weekends only until summer) at the main amenity building. Please note that this park does not offer overnight caravan or motor home pitches. There are, however, two campsites nearby at Glenpark Estate and The Meadows Camping Field
Love the place..always buzzing with families and hikers.Had wanted to climb to see Daragh, one of the Sperrin Giants so set off on the Purple Trail ,thinking it wouldn't be top difficult as I saw kids and their families setting off. I was wrong...this is a beautiful walk, but be warned its not easy,it takes well over an hour and you are walking uphill,so I found it really tiring in some places...although I was put to shame by a lovely young couple who were pushing their son up in a BUGGY....I met another family who had obviously assumed it would be a treat for the kids...just PLEASE take the incline into consideration..its not fair to drag little ones up that hill...granted it is stunning, and the views are spectacular but if you want a casual, fun walk with the kids I would caution you to consider it . The Giant himself is gorgeous and the area is so well maintained...just take some water n a snack...
Lovely place to walk with family, restaurant serving very tasty food . My family had good fun from a trip to this park , we walked over a few hours , time for talking, laughing and exploring wild nature
Absolutely stunning place with a range of walks, long to short, challenging or moderate. The park has a generously sized parking lot with a small cabin for picnics and a cafe nearby serving hot drinks and pizza - (note that the cafe accepts cash payments only). There are toilets available behind the cafe. There are also play areas at the front of the park. The walks are absolutely stunning, with both walking paths and mountain cycling routes separate. The park features both forest trails and mountain trails. I took the longest mountain trail to the Darach the Guardian sculpture at the end. The views are stunning and the walk itself takes around 3 hours there and back. It's a great place for a day trip out!
Strenuous climb, steep from near the bottom car park. but worth every effort to reach Darach. Took us under 4 hrs to complete, stopping numerous times for pics and a breather. The 360deg views are spectacular at the summit. The only litter bins we saw was near the picnic area at the start of the walk, with the odd dog litter bin along the way. It's possible to drive up slightly closer to Darach, if you choose to drive the senic route through the forest, but no real space for parking up there, and even from that point the climb is still a tough 1. There's a Butterfly revolution going on here. It's good to see them in abundance, they are thriving in the Sperrins. The local Deer showed themselves on the day and a young Red Squirrel.
We hiked up to see this wee one amazing venture. It is a good hike up go prepared
I had a fantastic experience at Gortin Glen Forest Park. The park's abundance of beautiful trees and well-maintained paths really captivated me. The heart of the park boasts a delightful cafe, adding to the overall charm of the place. The trails were easily accessible and the navigation was a breeze. Moreover, the park provided ample parking facilities, which made my visit hassle-free. I even had the pleasure of spotting some deer during my walk, which added to the serene and peaceful ambiance of the park. It was truly a wonderful place to explore. I highly recommend.
