With its rich history, diverse wildlife, and picturesque scenery, the Goss Moor Trail is a must-visit destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.
Beautiful walk amongst flora and fauna with lots of trails to explore. Encountered several friendly Belted Galloway cows and ponies. Great for dog walking, although I kept mine on leads where the animals were, but lots of areas for off lead fun. Had to be careful around the big pond as lots of froglets about. I entered from Domellick car park where there is a bin and free parking, although a donation can be made to support the moor.
Not enough signs telling you which way to go, it took us 3hrs to get round with our two dogs, you have to cross 1 or two roads which for us coming from norfolk is unusual. Other than that the dogs loved it. We think it was around 8 miles.
The whole of Goss Moor was a busy industrial area in the 1800's. Mining for Alluvial Tin had desolated the area so when the mining finished the moor was left to recover as a nature reserve with a lot of help from various agencies. There are only a few parking places spread about the reserve entrances but you would need to revert to Google Maps to see the 'Hiking' icon as that is where they are. The trails are flat and the gates are wide so easy for a wheelchair. Cows and ponies roam about, sometimes on the main road.
Love this place it's beautiful we love riding our scooters here and taking the dog Great scenery
We always like Goss Moor in all seasons as there is no litter or tourists and free parking! Wonderful nature, alot of birds, dragonflies in summer and we've seen a baby badger lovely for a picnic on the ground as well. Some lovely streams and ponds. However no toilets or cafe so be aware!
