This charming community garden in the heart of the UK is a tranquil oasis, boasting vibrant floral displays, lush greenery, and a variety of plant species. Meandering paths invite visitors to explore the garden's many sections, including a sensory garden, a wildlife area, and a community allotment. The garden also features a picturesque pond, a children's play area, and a cafe serving refreshments.
Very well kept Governors Community Gardens. It is opposite Portland HMP, but it has many different ways path to the Gardens. This peaceful and quiet garden. It has a play area for kids. Plenty of beaches to sit down, rest, and enjoy listening to the birds . Pletty of wildlife in the garden and also has a pond. Perfect to walk the dog or family and takes you down to the bowling green and can go through to the East Weare side of the island. This beautiful and peaceful walk and views can be breathtaking, and I watch the sunrise every morning . Pletty of free parking at the end of the road and next to the Jailhouse Diner ,which serves American food and drinks. Also, the next Portland Prison museum is very interesting and rich in history.
A pretty little garden. It was very quiet and peaceful. You can use the prison visitor's car park nearby. There is an obelisk on the edge of the garden, one of three nearby. These are apparently vent shafts for a sewer that served the original prison.
Lovely little spot we found on our walk. Very peaceful. Had a coffee from the farm shop and sat in the gardens to drink it.
Me and my wife have been here twice in 2 weeks with our Granddaughter, its quiet and lovely and with the Jailhouse Cafe next to it then it's a little hidden gem and we live on the Isle and love it.
Gorgeous peaceful gardens with plenty of shade. Lovely little shop selling local preserves, souvenirs and some produce from the kitchen garden
Beautiful gardens. Children enjoyed a play while we explored the plants.
On-site services
Wheelchair-accessible entrance

Good for kids
