The Gower Peninsula, located in southwest Wales, is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, diverse wildlife, and rich cultural heritage. The peninsula's rugged coastline features towering cliffs, secluded coves, and pristine beaches, such as Rhossili Bay, often voted one of the UK's best beaches. Inland, rolling hills, wooded valleys, and picturesque villages await discovery. The area is steeped in history, with ancient monuments like Arthur's Stone and the Sweyne's Howe burial chamber, as well as medieval castles and churches. The Gower's unique blend of natural beauty, cultural significance, and tranquility makes it a captivating destination for outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers, and those seeking a relaxing retreat.
What a beautiful part of the country with such amazing views everywhere. We went there simply to walk our dogs and we found such a wonderful variety of places to go. Beaches that stretched for miles, cliff tops with amazing views, open fields, small lanes, wide open paths - everything you could want in a walking holiday. Loved all the horses, cows & sheep wandering everywhere, clearly used to people, cars and dogs. Tickled us to see them on the golf course without the humans seeming to care even when they were on the green. Would love to return and I'm sure the dogs would too.
Beautiful beautiful beautiful area. Just lots of unspoilt nature. When it's not raining (and it rains a lot!) this is one of the most amazing places to visit if you're an outdoors person. If it rains you have to either get your waterproofs on and get out there or make your own entertainment as there's little here apart from the very breathtaking scenery.
Beautiful area for exploring. There's Penard Castle, a nice stream, stepping stones, a stone spiral circle, heritage centre and spectacular beach with cliff arch.
Fantastic, wonderful, no comment, the views leave you breathless
Beautiful scenery, great for dog walks.
Breath takingly beautiful and tranquil, I'd love to live there...
Good for kids
