A vibrant street art gallery situated beneath a dual carriageway, where local and international artists have transformed the drab concrete pillars and walls into a kaleidoscope of colours and creativity, featuring an ever-changing array of murals, graffiti, and stencil work.
6 Stars Upgrade *Hall of Fame* Amazing street art, well worth a visit. Recommend go early Saturday or Sunday morning. Park in ShowCase Cinema, grab a coffee at the Costa there then wander out to the main road and round the pub and along the walk way. Be careful of the traffic under the chicane bridge. Then through the gate and enjoy. The art changes regularly and sometimes the guys are there painting. Once done, wander back round to ShowCase and take a lovely walk along the riverside. There is more sporadic art hidden throughout the riverside path. Personally I like street art and I think the people who take the time to create this are very cool. Wish I could do this...
Graffiti in the past has been predictable, under the bridges on Loddon Bridge road. It was good, but the same stuff one can see on hundreds of goods train wagons. It seems the local street artist(s) have upped their game with the new batch. I really must park up and give them a good viewing. So far, I have only seen them driving past. There is quite often a a queue of traffic back from the lights at the George and if you are fortunate to be stopped under the bridges, it is a wonderful bit of eye candy. The council, quite often, whitewash over the graffiti (ffs) but they are soon replaced. The latest batch are brilliant and what makes them more impressive is the fact that, whoever the artist(s) is/are, they have to do it at night to avoid the authorities. To be fair to the authorities, it is in a slightly precarious position, with pavement on the other side of the road only. This means one has to cross the busy road with no crossings available. So, no doubt, the Health and Safety executive get their knickers in a twist! I'm definitely going to be popping in the George fairly soon for a small libation and subsequently, have a closer (and longer) look!
Very relaxing place with good scenery- found a dream lookalike Overall very relaxing
During lockdown, I loved seeing the street art along Loddon Bridge Road in Woodley, Reading UK until the council painted over it in bright white paint. I'm so pleased that the street artists have been back out and painted these murals under this concrete bridge, brining this grey looking area back to life with urban art. This cat and mouse chase has continued for years, with the graffiti being removed and then recreated, keeping the designs fresh from local & London vs Bristol artists. Park up at the George pub, walk under the bridge along the footpath and the area is on your right under the viaduct. The gate/ fence were open at the time of visiting. Safe enough, but a bit isolated.
True art not to be missed! Found it by accident as I was wandering around the river, there is a small path under the old bridge from the parking. Enjoy
It's a free art gallery that changes every week. Quality of art is amazing.
