Greenock Cut Visitor Centre is a great destination for a family day out in the countryside. All tracks, trails and the car park are open daily. Seek out the Wood Spirits in the Shielhill Glen Nature Trail (1 hr) or head out for a longer walk (allow 3 hrs) around the historic Greenock Cut aqueduct. Prefer to relax? Grab a cuppa in the Visitor Centre and enjoy the wildlife and peace a quiet that comes with the Inverclyde hills and calming lochside location.
A most relaxing place to visit. The staff are friendly especially the guide who helped plan our route and even walked us to the starting point. The shorter path that we took had wooden walkways and therefore we didn't need hill walking boots. The drive to the centre has many B-roads with passing places. This just shows you down to enjoy the scenic lochs and countryside. The parking is free
Closed at the time of visit due to repairs but the garden centre opposite was open. There is also a small take-away cafe here with some outside tables overlooking the reservoir. There are many pleasant, easy walks from the Visitor Centre to Inverkip, Wemyss, Largs and Greenock. These vary from about 2 to 10miles, with spectacular views over the Clyde Estuary. Unfortunately there are very few places to sit on the longer routes and the trail between the Visitor Centre and Wemyss Bay can be very wet in places due to runoff from the hills.
Friendly owner of the visitor centre very informative didn't get to do our initial route (matinance been carried out on the boardwalk) but directed onto a brilliant walk all the same dogs and kids all tired. Definitely go back.
A place I've always heard of and never been so me and a few people went up for a walk, they've got good trails for walking and some wildlife, very peaceful
Cute little visitor centre with a small museum and space for picknick around the house. Toilet facilities and parking available. There is a cofeeshop nearby too.
Fantastic place and only 5 mins drove from Greenock.
