Grey Mare's Tail Waterfall is a picturesque waterfall located in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, Scotland. The waterfall drops 100 feet down a rocky slope, creating a misty veil that surrounds the area. The waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery and is accessible via a short hike from the nearby car park. The roar of the waterfall can be heard from a distance, and the scenic beauty of the area makes it a popular spot for nature lovers and photographers.
Spectacular waterfall which you can hear long before you can see it. There's a very pleasant walk with some steep paths but it's relatively easy to reach. For braver souls there are re-bar steps fixed into the rock and a wire bridge which allows you to get a closer look.
Hidden away in a beautiful village there is a small free car park with a donation box. A well kept path leads up and down to the waterfall. We'll worth a stop if near the area as it is so beautiful.
Grey Mare's Waterfall is one of the most spectacular landmarks in southern Scotland. Situated on the north side of Moffatdale's deep U-shaped valley. Car park was under construction, so had it park on the side roads. Easy access to the waterfall with young children. Was quiet if you went earlier in the day, so I was able to take photos and videos. Got busier as we left. Grey Mare's Tail is one of the highest waterfalls in Scotland, and the fifth highest cascade in Britain
This is a lovely little waterfall to visit just a short hike from the main streets of Kinlochleven. The hike down is easy, we actually hauled our baby stroller most of the way, though there are stairs and we don't necessarily advise it. The wooded area itself is beautiful! And the waterfall is lovely to see. It's somewhat unfortunate that our photographs were mostly obscured by climbing wires and parts that I believe are used by a local rock climbing group. But don't let this deter you from visiting! You can strategically try to leave the climbing accessories out of photographs.
The waterfall is beautiful. Having viewed the base of the fall I hiked up to the top and then carried on up the hillside to the Lodge before heading back down to Kinlochleven. The views on the way up were amazing.
Beautiful well maintained path to get to the falls, with a car park nearby Waterfall absolutely stunning due to all the wet weather recently. Also noticed that there are board walk and set ups for rock climbers. Well worth it and as waterfalls go it's a great example
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
