Visited Guildford Castle this morning, so lovely with the gardens around it so beautifully maintained, thank you to Guildford council. It is a Norman castle dating back almost 1000 years, originally used as a stopping off point between London and Winchester, the capital at that time. Only the Keep remains, but is wonderfully steeped in history. I also visited the bowling green next to it, a lovely setting for the green with the war memorials at each end. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

Guildford Castle is a stunning town centre monument, sitting in a really pretty garden. If you are in Guildford and want a break or somewhere interesting to eat lunch visit the garden. Different levels, flowers and shrubs, a little water garden, lots of benches, this garden is a real joy and it's free! It's located near the bowling greens, another lovely feature, and the whole place is popular with visitors and feels safe.

Lovely little castle, great information on the history and the building itself and affordable to visit. Guildford museum just around the corner too. My only complaint would be that all the flower beds were completely empty so the gardens weren't what I expected.

Magnificent castle grounds and the flowers are well kept for the public and visitors from near and far. Great place to laze around but it does say keep off the grass. Some people ignore it and sit as they please. There is a lot of history inside the castle and the price is reasonable to cheap. I was a little dissappointed from the view at the top because I felt caged. If they could make a plastic or glass barrier then photos would be excellent. Great view of Guildford cathedral. Oh yes, they filmed Omen there. It's really near the high street. So a definetly a place to visit if in town

The castle has a beautiful garden. Absolutely amazing, we loved it. The garden is the major attraction to the castle itself. It is well maintained and has beautiful views. In sumer you can just relax on the benches and enjoy the atmosphere. Entry is free for the garden, but you have to pay to get into the castle. There wasn't much to see in the castle. One hour is enough to have a tour around if you don't intend to sit and chill.
