Monumental, 18m-diameter steel artwork, installed in 2007 & illuminated in blue after dark.
I've been a few times now to the Halo and have to say it's a great little hidden gem of a location!! On a clear day, ya can see for Mile's a miles around.. Deffently recommend as a great afternoon ramble suitable for both dog walkers and also failmy an kids. Is a suitable area possible to have a picnic, although there aren't any tables or benches. If ya are able to stay till the night turns dark, the halo is rather impressive at night when light!! Place is pretty safe at night, but the road in an out is rather trick if you're a nervous driver - no street lights and some steep tight turns, quite tight a points bit I've got our transit up. You are able to park directly next to the halo, about 20 feet walk up a small path.
Lovely sunset walk with 2 11 year olds, a teen and my lovely mum. If you are nervous with the thought of meeting head on head with a car on a steep and narrow single track road then do as I did and park in the town centre and walk up. We parked at the Co op shop, it was free parking and clearly signposted the Halo. It is a short but steep walk on a tarmac road. Very easy route to follow. We set off half an hour before sunset. I used the Met office weather app for this info. We brought along torches and treats. The views are beautiful esp at the time that we went. We could see the lights of Haslingden Town centre and the sky was awash with sunset colours. The short path from the road to the Halo was very muddy and I was nervous of my mum slipping even though she had walking boots on. There was a large ring of water around the sculpture. I don't think this is intentional but due to the foot traffic. We crossed at a shallow point to get underneath the Halo. It is a lovely sight and very pretty. You can park very close to it and see if from the roadside but like I said it is a very tight road with few crossing points. We all enjoyed it!
Great artwork, but definitely need to go see it on an evening when it's all lit up! It's about a mile walk from the Halo Panopticon car park in Haslingden, with signposts leading the way.
Amazing views and greenery in our beautiful locality..
Been intending to visit the halo for a while so today was the day. Great walk with 3 different car parks. Was really good to see and will return at night at some point. Slightly disappointed the site doesn't feel as its been looked after. Alot of over growth no bins in the closest car park graffiti appear on the steel structure. I'd say definitely worth a visit some great views however needs some attention on the up keep
Great views of Rossendale and Manchester. There's a car park about 2 minutes from the halo, but this can only hold approx 4 cars and has huge pot holes and lots of rubbish in it, so be careful! The walk itself is well paved and buggy and rider proof, as is the whole walking trail that it is linked with, so you can make your visit as long or as short as you like. The road leading up to the car park is 1 car wide, so be careful and drive slowly as it's a steep drop and isn't very well covered, with lots of tight bends. Have fun!
