Sand beach on the harbor offering huts, a fishing pier, water sports & a seasonal paddling pool.
We cycled here from Poole harbour. Nice easy cycle following the routes. Nice area, play parks. Cafe. Beach huts and plenty of green space to spread out and enjoy. Lots of sea front benches to enjoy the sea views.
Pleased we visited to see the park although it was a stormy day. Car park is free out of season and you do get 30 minutes free parking all year round. It was high tide so the water was right up to the beach huts. Good cafe with some excellent cakes but by all accounts it can get very busy. There are plans to close the paddling pool permanently.
It was a large park with lots of activities for kids. The parking area was big enough. From the park you can see some beachfront. It was so peaceful when we went there. If you have dog it will be heaven for them as there were lot of people with dogs visiting and playing with their dogs. There is a little cafe if you want a hot drink. It was our last day of summer holidays so we enjoyed our peace in the park as it was not crowded. I highly recommend the park.
Need more maintenance. Every year the kids pool is so sharp from sediment that it cuts both adults and dogs let alone children. It's razor sharp and dangerous. Council need to maintain it better cos it could still be gorgeous if they bothered.
We visited here as I wanted shells for school and hadn't had much luck at other beaches I had visited. The beach is very shingly and there was a lot of seaweed. We only walked along the beach to the park, but if you are not botgered about a sandy beach it was a lovely place to just paddle and sit and look out to sea. The park was suitable for a range of ages, although some of the pieces were very tired looking and not all working as they should. The splash pool was lovely. We only walked through it to head back to the car park, but it would be a lovely place to sit and relax while the children paddle. The only disappointing part of the whole site really was the parking. We didn't see a disabled space as the car park was so full and cars were coming and going. Even if there had been a space, the distance from the car park to the beach or the play area was too far for my partner to walk, so he was unable to join us. If you have a wheelchair this would not be a problem, however not all people with mobility problems are dependent on wheelchairs etc so the distance would need to be taken into consideration if you were planning a visit.
Brilliant place....splash pool and big park for kiddies, lovely cafe, decent toilets and a beautiful beach. We spent all day there and had a great time.
