I simply wish I could give more stars, 5 simply isn't enough for Happisburgh Owls! My partner bought me this experience as a gift for my birthday and it was easily one of the best days I've had! Darwin and Sandra are simply wonderful and down to earth, so so lovely to chat to throughout the day and brimming with knowledge. All the owls are beautiful, treated with the utmost care and as Sandra mentioned to us during the day, are essentially her children. I'm not sure the price as was a gift, but I'll be paying whatever it is to bring my family next year. You simply cannot have this same private experience anywhere else. If you love owls or birds in general, you will 100% love this! Cannot wait to visit again!
I arranged for a visit to celebrate my Wife's birthday and our 5th wedding anniversary and it was an unforgettable experience. Darwin was an absolutely fantastic host and very knowledgeable about a subject that he is obviously very passionate about. The real stars were of course the owls, Laser really won our hearts, he is incredible and my wife felt a real connection with him similar to his connection with Sandra that we were so privileged to witness. We couldn't have been looked after any better and we will definitely be returning, thanks guys!
We had a lovely afternoon with Sandra and Darwin who shared a magical day with us and their amazing collection of owls who were friendly and calm with our children. They made us feel at home and taught us lots of interesting facts and information which we will treasure for many years to come. Well worth experience all round amazing cake and coffee also supplied which was very tasty
The best place to visit to see owls, it is a private, not the sort where you go go with loads of other people see a few owls then leave. I phoned & spoke to Darwin to book our visit, he explained that they only do one private visit a day, & it is a 3 hour visit 11-2, it was seventy five pounds each, which seems a lot but it is including seeing 18 owls, & holding 8 each, i did mention on the phone a couple i liked the look of, so the were out for us. The owls are in a room on their stands when you arrive, & you spend a decent amount of time in there learning all about the history of the rescue, & the owls, all while drinking a cup of tea or coffee, & eaing a slice of victoria sponge, very relaxing & informal, & ask absolutely anything you want. Then you start to hold the owls,we chose to be outside in the shade as it was lovely weather, we took 2 out at a time then both took it in turns to hold both. We then had a look around all of the aviaries with an explanation of each owl, unfotunately one of the owls i really wanted to see was egg laying, so we only saw her by laying down on the ground & looking underneath her bench. Sandra(the owner) & Darwin are both so knowledgeable & friendly, & they have an absolute passion for these birds, we were there for about 4 hours in the end, not made to feel rushed at all, & we had the pleasure of seeing & holding baby Maple who was 10 weeks old, we will definitely be returning, worth every penny especially if you love owls as my husband does.
We visited on Monday and had a wonderful experience. Sandra and Darwin spent hours teaching us about the owls and introducing us to them individually, giving us the opportunity to hold them, take photos and learn about the different species they have there. The owls are kept in beautiful, clean aviaries and the care they receive is obviously outstanding. The passion of Sandra and Darwin for their owls was really evident. We were made so welcome, treated to drinks and cake throughout our visit and given plenty of time to ask questions and interact with the owls. Highly recommend supporting Happisburgh owls through visiting - especially as the whole cost of entry goes towards caring so well for the owls.
Absolutely fabulous experience with the owls. Completely comfortable with them. Sandra and Darwin were like friends. Meeting the owls touches your soul their sweet little souls talk to you, they are so loving and trusting it's an honour to be allowed to hold them so close to you. I felt teary a few times. Seeing my son smiling and happy was worth the visit he loved every minute. So very very special for us all. Something we all will never forget. My friend came with me who is very ill and hasn't got long. He loved every minute has always loved owls. Even though he is allergic to feathers. Sandra and Darwin couldn't do enough to accommodate us. Fantastic people that touch your heart the special kind. Thank you so very much Sue and John Xxxxxx
