Just back from a long weekend and was surprised as I have stayed on a few different haven sites and to be honest this is probably the worst. We arrived caravan wasn't ready so went for a drink in the restaurant/bar and I think the first impression just set in. Went to the bar 1 person serving 5 staff members standing behind the bar chatting and laughing. I know they could have been talking about work but maybe do this in an office and not in front of a que of people who had been standing there for at least 20 mins. After a lot of loud this is ridiculous (and not just from us) 2 of the staff helped to serve. We then we to find a table, which is hard work we got one in the outside area which was absolutely disgusting rubbish everywhere. The staff were coming and collecting glasses and just looking at the mess and Leaving it. We only used the bar a couple of times and you could never get a table you had to just hang around untill someone left and all the tables were sticky and needed a good clean. i feel the entertainment complex is far too small for the size of the site, there is even no toilets in the restaurant you have to go the back of the arcades. Also could only get phone sigal or Internet while in the caravan. On a plus note we got burger king delivered to the caravan this was fast and really nice. We got a bus into Blackpool everyday and got a taxi back. Definitely wouldn't go back.
We arrived early to find our caravan wasn't ready, so went for a drink then returned within our check in window. It still wasn't ready, a cleaning lady arrived about 5 mins later and said she would have it cleaned by 5. We left and when I returned another family had parked up in front of our car and had let themselves in. They had booked privately and us through Haven, so we had to move. Next caravan was nicer and better location but they failed to let our Tesco delivery driver know we had moved, so our shopping was returned. I had to spend a while sorting this and eventually got it re-delivered that evening so we had food for the kids. The double bed then broke, the shower was either cold or freezing cold, there was no central heating, just little room heaters in the bedroom. Everywhere was grubby and in need of a good clean. Entertainment room was far too small. Food at the restaurant was very poor for the price, so we ended up getting pizzas from the shop and a burger kind which were fine. The pool was nice and warm but had a very weird smell and the changing areas weren't clean. Overall experience was not pleasant and we won't be returning here again. Very dissatisfied and two lots of our friends also had problems...
If I could give more than 5 stars I would, brilliant location to the local area. Great activities on site, mix of swimming, mini golf, ride on carts and much more. The on site laundry is incredibly handy. Caravans are very clean. Would recommend to anyone will return again in the future
We have been to many haven camps over the years (about 10 different ones in England, Scotland and wales) and frequent customers of Devon cliffs and Hafan y mor. Thoroughly disappointed by marton mere. Initial impressions pulling up aren't great and it doesn't get any better if I'm honest. This camp is in need of major refurbishment to be on par with the other camps. ||Firstly the cleanliness of the caravan was not up to standard. The carpets and flooring and overall cleanliness of bathroom was not acceptable. We had a dirty mop bucket outside our van the entire stay as well as leftover items from previous occupants. We also had 2 glasses and 2 forks for an 8 birth caravan and no frying pan or tin opener. Basics for a self catering holiday. Although these items were delivered when requested it really should have been something that was checked prior to our arrival. Also I know you can log poor cleanliness of caravan but I can see on here that this is an ongoing issue at this site. ||The bar areas, arcades, pool changing and restaurant were all filthy. Rubbish left on floor, filthy carpets and sticky wood floor. The tables in boathouse were sticky. Although food was nice and came out in good time, many items of food and drink not available. The pool was seriously overcrowded and dangerous, not enjoyable at all. The children's play area needs updating. ||Finally our caravan was behind the road leading past the touring site. I became extremely concerned with the speed of traffic going down this road. Every day food delivery trucks, white vans and workman raced down and flew over speed bumps. Very dangerous for a family site. ||Won't be returning!!
Went on the 19th August for 4 nights on arrive security safe on the gate very friendly went down hill from there on arrival to the caravan it hadn't been cleaned at all so complained to reception (were there was many people complaining) they sent a snotty young girl 3hrs later to "clean" it I did refuse as we had already cleaned it ourselves plus it should of been done before we arrived. They did offer another caravan which was worse than ours absolutely disgusting smelt of fags nothing had been cleaned finally went to get food at 7 o'clock they had nothing on menu left due to a shortage so not the best start to a holiday beds was has hard as nails had 3hrs sleep. Next morning went and spoke to accommodation manager who basically couldn't give a toss about our caravan didn't want to resolve the issues so I left it at that no point arguing I wasn't getting anywhere. Son went swimming on the Tuesday then ended up with a bad eye the next day, the outside by main area smells of marajuan constantly the tables are sticky and need a clean, kids aren't supervised by parents there just left to run riot in the arcade area 2 riot vans were called on the Wednesday due to trouble, we had enough and cut our holiday short to come home we was hoping for a relaxing few days away for my sons birthday but it was just a nightmare. We have Been to many havens over the years and never experienced any issues at all safe to say we would never return to Marton Mere the place is vile
Went as part of the holidays booked with parent carers association and was utterly dumbfounded. The area itself is gorgeous and if all you want is swimming then this is the place for you however activities have no middle ground for preteens but over toddlers. Thankfully we spent our time at sealife and the zoo but back at haven we couldn't eat because they had no vegan food. This is twice I have booked haven after so many people raving about it and I had to travel into Blackpool to eat.|They had vegan options but the stock hadn't been replaced for the whole week.
