Seton Sands Holiday Park in East Lothian, Scotland sits beneath the Firth of Forth's estuary, close to where it flows east and becomes part of the North Sea. There are two heated indoor swimming pools for guests to enjoy, a whole host of activities and a nine-hole golf course with sea views. Fishing is always great at the lake, and there's livelier entertainment at the dedicated venue throughout the day and evening. The Bloatie Blest restaurant is the place to be for all things food, with a great terrace overlooking the stunning surroundings. The peaceful location in Port Seton means it's easy to forget how close Edinburgh is. Scotland's capital is a magnificent day out and only 30 minutes away by car.
We had a great stay here, our first Haven in Scotland (stayed in many others in England). The location is great, far enough away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to local amenities, great public transport (which saves on parking costs in Edinburgh) and professional staff. Our only handful was that we went to the show for one evening, and the visiting group (2 male and 1 female singing) came on with their own sound system and the volume was painfully where we were sat, and we were only one of many tables clearly thinking the same. The music and singing was good, but it literally hurt. We joined many others and left, even though I meantioned it to not one, but two staff members first, the second going backstage, but nothing changing. Our son only has hearing in one ear and so it was not worth risking it any longer. Such as pity as I quickly finished my one drink and we left. We did not go to another show. This was a first for a Haven stay as we have gone to a minimum of 3 per week every other Haven we've gone to, which would have potentially been 6 shows we would have gone to. Everything else was great though, hence not deducting a star. The caravan was clean, the pool, though limited on size was good fun for the children.
My daughter and I have just spent a week at Seton Sands and we had a great time.||We had a silver grade caravan which was lovely. Loads of space, really clean, great facilities and in a nice quiet part of the park.||The park itself is very well maintained, clean and tidy and the facilities are very good. There's a well stocked shop on site, the pool is great, there's a decent restaurant and bar.||A couple of niggles from us.|1. We had a check in time of between 2 and 3 but when we arrived at about 2:20, the caravan wasn't ready. After a long drive up this wasn't ideal.|2. We ate in the restaurant 4 times. The food is OK, nothing amazing but very good value. The main issue we had was the service was bad at times with not enough staff on. We cancelled our dessert order on the Sunday as we were waiting for almost an hour.||The evening entertainment is very good for the kids. The bookable activities for the kids are also very good. We did make a bear, made a survival bracelet, painted a plant pot, did a sand bottle and also did wild wizards. All were very good and decent value. I will warn people that the ranger's station where some of the activities are is a long way from the main area so getting between activities is challenging if they're close together in time.||We spent a lot of time in and around Edinburgh so didn't explore the local area much but there seemed very little around which was a shame.||I would definitely recommend making a visit here. Lovely staff, very nice park, great activities and facilities and a great part of the country. We may look to come back.
Positives|Site is well maintained and clean can't fault this. |Easy to book activities.|Everyone is friendly.|Transport links are very good.|Silver caravan was very modern and newish. |We recommend cisiting the Royal yatch Britannia. |||Negatives or niggles|The pub is mediocre small portions for the price. |The swimming only had half the pool open so couldn't actually swim (did enjoy having music in here though).|The site activities are small not much to do for children over 8 years. Especially teens. |You arrive to a letter with a link for your phone I prefer the old fashioned programme and map. (Was never offered and none around the site).|More attention to detail on cleanliness around the caravan needed (old teabag in cupboard, fridge had a smell, dusty all around the edges) coffee table was in the balcony in the rain. Arrived to the previous holidaymakers bedding outside the caravans. |Entertainment needs some work. (Park Dean just have that edge)||Overall its OK as a base caravan great but would not return to this site.
Nice park close to Edinburgh and immediately opposite the beach. The children had a great time in the pool with the slides. The lifeguards were very attentive. Less good swimmers were given a coloured wrist bracelet for the lifeguards to see. The kids entertainment was fun. There were 2 parks and additional activities you could pay for. The caravan was clean. The onsite shop and restaurant was expensive but that was expected. Bikes could be hired. We had a very enjoyable holiday. Thank you to all the staff at the park.
We had a brilliant time at seton sands. There was loads for our 9 and 7 years old boys to do. The entertainment team were really excellent. The food on site was also great, and it was a huge bonus that the restraunt was pet friendly!! Having the beech across the road was brilliant as well. Having our dog with us we were able to give him great walks, both on site and on the beech. When the time came to leave the kids were upset and wanted to stay longer!! A brilliant holiday.
Would Not recommend if you want your child safe guarded, or you want security to even bother to protect people on site. Tuesday we played in the arcade. myself my partner and my partners little sister who we have under an SGO, she is 2, 3 in a couple of weeks. the little one was stood doing the penny machines and a women stands in fromt of her and takes a photo. I asked the lady to delete the photo which she refused and said i didnt take a photo. i could blatantly see the photos on her phone. Therefore i took the ladies phone (yes wrong of me as i was thinking out of fear for child safety) ran to security and told them what was happening. the security man John then started laughing in my face, took the phone and gave it back to the women. I started kicking off explaining that the little one is under a protection order and photos ect arent something we need whether it is online or personal use and also it is not okay for a full grown women to take photos of a little girl.My brother then came out and said to the lady who took photos to let him look at her phone. she said she didnt have any photos and it was fine for him to do so. He went into his recently deleted and there were 6 photos, not of the back of her head or the side blatant photos of her face that were really zoomed in. My brother then shouted and the security guard look the phone and locked it away in there room. John then proceeded to get in my brothers face shouting at him and poking him in the chest, i called the police because the security would not do anything. The police filed a report and made sure the lady had deleted the photos. We were made aware that the people where only staying the night wnd to try and enjoy the rest of the holiday. The security guard Robbie was great, he was making sure we were okay and everytime we walked past him on site he would smile and say hello. Whereas John proceeded to continue to laugh and think this was all a big joke. Everytime we walked past him if he was with a different security guard or worker he would also say "thats them". its very unprofessional and for us as a family who are very new as a family was very intimidating. I have come||to haven as a kid and have been booking haven holidays for years, this was our first and most definitely our last time at this park. It was also 450miles and an 9hr journey that was easily ruined by one man. I also dont believe this waa reported on site and the security guards did not take our names or any information. I will not attend this park and nor will any of my family. There was 10 of us all together and its safe to say non of us felt safe after that event.
