This nature reserve is a haven for wildlife and nature lovers, featuring a variety of habitats including saltmarsh, mudflats, and freshwater lagoons. The reserve is home to a wide range of bird species, including avocets, ringed plovers, and little egrets, as well as mammals such as otters and foxes. The trails and hides provide excellent opportunities for spotting wildlife, and the reserve's proximity to the sea means that visitors can also enjoy the sound of the waves and the smell of the salt air.
This is my local and favourite walk - with or without my doggy. Beautiful views across to Isle of Wight and Portsmouth. Cinder type path for walkers and cyclists. Dog can go off lead and loves to fetch sticks from the sea, although can get messy at low tide. If you want a snack go to the secret Greggs in the petrol garage or there is a van which does lovely burghers for me and a drinking fountain for dogs. Accessible every season.
Great place to see wading birds. I saw so many different kinds when i visited. I originally went for 4 night but ended up staying 8 nights. Its such a beautiful tranquill place to sit and watch the day go by
Great trail for walking or cycling along the western side of the island.
This part of Hayling is stunning, and not too busy - the ideal place for a socially-distanced coastal walk. Here you can see plenty of coastal flora and fauna, and enjoy watching the sea birds on their specially-placed rafts for nesting. There are some interesting insights into the history of the area too, shown on slanted signs, making it great for teaching kids about the area, or even just enriching your own knowledge. The ground is a bit uneven in places, and I wouldn't recommend the walk for those with mobility impairments, but it's a great area to walk in nonetheless.
Beautiful place to walk and catch the sunset.
Beautiful walks wildlife was amazing nesting terns and gulls highly recommend. Mad pics (c)
