A 19th-century windmill situated on the Suffolk coast, featuring a striking white tower with a black cap and wooden sails, standing 60 feet tall and offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and the River Deben estuary.
Had a nice walk through the forest, the fields were a pain to walk though as nothing has been cut down so thorn bushes everywhere, the windmill had scaffolding and a ladder so i was able to climb up to the windmill blades, only thing that puts me off visiting again was a drug deal was happening as we pulled into the car park, apart from that had a lovely time.
Lovely walk through the woods and to the windmill. Small free car park on Herringfleet road.
Currently has two sails missing, so not really worth the mile walk from the car park through the dense fern forest and across the thistle covered marshes.
Great walk and nice windmill
So who owns this site and who is responsible for its care? It's in terrible condition and won't be standing much longer if it's not better looked after!
Quiet and peaceful, regularly see birds of prey, swans and cows, shame the mill is being left in disrepair.
