Meadow & forest country park with a lake, play areas, Nordic walking trail & a community garden.
As I walked into the High Woods country park I saw a big climbing frame I think teen-agers and adults can enjoy that as well, it has a lovely lake and a nice long walk to the dipping pond and the orchard it's very relaxing and there's some benches to sit down and enjoy the atmosphere. There's a nice big play ground area, no dogs in the playground area.
High Woods Country Park is a great spot for nature lovers. The field is full of colourful wildflowers, making it perfect for a relaxing walk. The paths are easy to follow and take you through some lovely green areas. There are plenty of benches around, especially near the lake, where you can sit down and relax. You'll also find benches scattered in other parts of the park, making it easy to take a break and enjoy the scenery. There aren't any toilets, but that's alright since it's a free park. It's also a fantastic place for dog walkers with plenty of space for your furry friends to run around. Just make sure to clean up after your dogs - I've come across a few spots where people haven't, and it's not pleasant.
At High Woods Country Park Park, not only can you enjoy the beautiful views and walk peacefully through the forest, but you can also bring your faithful furry companion along. This park is the perfect place for you and your dog to enjoy nature together, sharing moments of adventure and exploration while immersing yourselves in the serenity of the surroundings. The spacious and well-maintained trails offer the ideal space for walking with your dog, allowing them to enjoy the freedom and excitement of discovering new scents and landscapes while accompanying you on your outdoor experience.
One of the leafiest spots in Colchester. The northern portion has a generous network of pathways amongst Pedunculate Oak, Sweet Chestnut and the occasional Common Beech. The trees appear to be quite young, with one or two exceptions. The southern meadows, meanwhile, can be very exposed on hot, summer days. Overall, an excellent location that could arguably be improved with even more tree cover.
I came here with my Grandson and Mum, it was lovely, it was my first time visiting. Fantastic for children, and the wonderful forest walks. Definitely going to make this a regular visit for sure. It was a shame though that the visit centre wasn't open for a nice cup of tea.
Love it here, took my grandaughter her Saturday, we spent 3 hours here, in the parks, had picnic, walk around the pond looking for dragon fly, was clean, n beautiful , nature at its best.
