We had a wonderful day out here. The wildlife is varied and well-cared for judging by how calm all the animals were. The walkways were laid out well with easy to follow signposts. We were surprised to see camels on our way into the park, and felt extremely lucky to see a red squirrel scurrying around.
Nice mix of walking and driving exhibits with a real message of conservation. Nice variety of animals from across then world They're upgrading/adding more (July 24) at the minute, so some building works going on but doesn't impact the visit at all.
This has a well organised layout, with plenty of parking. The food trucks were a novel idea, and reasonably priced, with great food. All of the areas we covered were wheelchair, or scooter accessible, and these can be hired for the day on arrival. All of the animals were visible, and well cared for, in large areas. We listened to a fantastic talk on the Polar Bears, as they 'tolerated each other' in play. The Snow Leopard was the main attraction for me, and we managed a glimpse of her face, and a great view of her tail, but that's more than some see on a months hike in the Himalayas. The drive through area thankfully has no monkeys or baboons, and with plenty passing places, you can let others past, and take your time. We specifically visited the area to visit the park, and despite the building work (which is hardly noticeable), we absolutely loved our visit with our 10 year old grandson, and will definitely be back.
It's a nice wildlife park with a large number of animals but small variety. It was easy to get to, all staff seemed really nice and the cafe was pricey but nice. The drive through however was a let down compared to the foot zoo as me, my kids and other half where not impressed by the drive through reserve. There was nothing really that great about that part if I'm honest but my children really enjoyed seeing the polar bears and snow leopard's on the foot zoo just a shame on the drive through bit. I got a venison burger before leaving for PS11 and that was OK too.
We've visited every 2 years since the kids were small and every time is a treat. There is some work and restructuring going on at the moment so some things are a bit different and the visitor centre is closed. Every animal was on view today apart from the Red Pandas which are currently at Edinburgh. We didn't manage to catch a glimpse of the Lynx or any Wildcats unfortunately this time but we have seen them previously. The absolute delight of the visit this time was the snow leopards. They were on form and really enjoying their surroundings. Thr wolves were very entertaining too. The tigers have cubs and the male has had to be separated from them and their mum as she is displaying extreme protective behavior and so they are getting turn about in the big enclosure until she's calmer. He was in the bigger area while we were there but we could see the female and the cubs from the polar bear area and the drive around. We had some burgers from the Tomintoul Venison van and they were worth every penny. We got some ice cream from the food truck next to it to give them some business too but considering it was Rizzas ice cream and we're actually from Huntly, the mark up in price compared to the shop at home was a bit steep for the same size tubs. We stayed at the park from 11.30am until around 4.30pm so we really got our moneys worth and went around the park on foot many times and did the safari drive twice before heading home
