Highlands End Holiday Park is a 5 star holiday resort and the Dorset Holiday Park of the Year. Superbly located on the clifftop overlooking 99 miles of coastline, the park has a range of accommodation including luxury lodges, caravans, apartments, glamping and pitches for touring and camping. Facilities include a swimming pool, sauna and steam room, a bar and restaurant, children's soft play, pitch 'n' putt course, children's play areas, a park shop, a laundry and more. There is dog friendly accommodation and the bar & restaurant welcomes dogs. Short breaks of 3 or 4 nights are available. There is direct access from the park to the coast path and it's a 5-10 minute walk down to Eype Beach and 15 minutes down to West Bay.
We stayed in our motor home in the touring area of the park. The pitch was a service pitch. It was a bit steep to get on but was fine once everything was levelled up & was in a good location. The toilet & shower block was clean & had plenty in there. Never had to wait for a shower. They are always hot & they have 2 showers which have a toilet & sink in there too. They also have a small baby bath for babies in the lower ladies facilities & 2 small baths which are communal in the top facilities. You pay for the swimming pool which also has a sauna & steam room included in the price which is very reasonable & you can buy a 5 or 7 day pass which proves cheaper. Park is very quiet, clean & has a lovely kids play area & fantastic walks into West Bay & Eype beaches. The park hosts a lovely Spar shop which sells everything you need & Martins Bar & restaurant that serves lovely food & has live entertainment throughout the week with a kids play area in the garden. This is our 4th visit here & we are never disappointed. Staff are very friendly & helpful & the new footy golf was so much fun. A fantastic park to stay on as it is very central to lots of local amenities
This is an immaculately maintained caravan and camping site. However staffing levels are an issue here as a 20-30min waiting time at the bar for food and drinks orders was not uncommon. This is then further compounded by a long wait for the food to be supplied. Unless you are prepared to drive or taxi to nearby Bridport for food and drinks we found the small service area of the bar for food and drinks is far too small for the customer numbers that use the facility. We stayed in a top of the range lodge for 7 days. This was a "dog friendly " lodge as everything else was fully booked. It was cleaned to a high standard but unfortunately the supplied vacuum cleaner could not be used for any daily cleaning as the smell of dog hair was quite overpowering. The lack of privacy windows or curtains in the living and bedrooms was disappointing as we needed to keep most curtains drawn to ensure daytime privacy. Fantastic play areas for the children and a lovely pool and sauna which could prove costly if your not staying a lodge or apartment and get inclusive access. Very friendly staff everywhere we went but the staffing levels were a big issue for us. Personally I would not book "dog friendly" accommodation again and be prepared to travel a few miles if you want meals other than the normal pub grub of burgers etc. sort the bar out and a little more attention to detail in the not at all cheap to rent lodges will earn this venue 4/5* every time
We stayed with our caravan for a week at Highlands End, which we have stayed at both with the caravan and previously a tent on a number of occasions.|The location is fantastic, central between Bridport, West Bay and the beaches / walks nearby. |However, it should be noted that the site is on a clifftop, so of course it will at times be windy, in fact when we were there one night the gusts were approaching 50 mph, which would have been totally unsuitable for tents and many awnings in fact! |I would strongly advise that anyone coming with a tent really considers the fact that whilst on a calm, gentle breeze the camping is amazing, if the wind strengthens, you could be in for a sleepless night, and / or damage to your equipment. Go prepared, and with this in mind you should have a better stay.|Whilst the wind was strong I saw a couple of the grounds staff assisting a group with their tent and doing what they could to tie it down, great to see. ||The showers were always hot, water runs freely and there was little / no wait for one. That and the wc were generally clean and tidy, or as much as they cane be in peak season. ||Didn't pop into the bar / restaurant this time round as we headed out most days / evenings - lots of options off site.||Childrens play area is great, clean and tidy. We popped down to Eype most days for a swim, though suggest a wetsuit! ||The site was busy / fully booked, which is great, and the majority respect keeping noise down after dark, but there are always one of two clowns that are ignorant to this, but that's the wider society isn't it? ||We look forward to our next visit :)
Liked: Beautiful park. So we'll kept, it was a pleasure to walk around. Spectacular views across the countryside and coast. Very good facilities, all so clean and in excellent repair. The bar and restaurant were excellent. We ate in one night and were surpsied at the good quality of the food and friendly service. The pool, sauna and steam rooms were also very good and excellent value for money. Disliked: The shepherd's field for tents is on a slope!
We've just got back and it's a lovely clean park. We were in our own caravan.||There is a great park for the kids, and loads of space for them play football etc.||There are lots of lovely walks, and two beaches you can walk to.||West Bay is lovely and unspoilt, we loads of lovely places to eat. You must try Rise and The Watch which has lovely food and views whilst you eat.||You have to pay for swimming, but the pool is lovely, facilities clean and a sauna and steam room as well.||The pitches were spacious, and the toilets and showers were always clean.||We really enjoyed it, and we would definitely go again.
Facilities are fare away... Horrible slippery floor in toilets/showers. With mold in the showers. Gravel pitch was good and level but grass next to it wasn't. It is a good holiday park and it's well kept but for that price I would expect something better. For pool and soft play you need to pay extra. There is a SPAR and a restaurant in the park.
