A charming heritage railway station nestled in the picturesque Severn Valley, Highley Station is a beautifully restored Victorian-era station that offers a nostalgic glimpse into the past. The station's rustic charm is enhanced by its tranquil surroundings, with the gentle rustle of trees and the soft chirping of birds creating a serene atmosphere.
A nice single platform station. Not quite as picturesque as Arley Station but well worth a visit for the Engine House which is home to several steam locomotives that are currently not in use. It also has a good cafe serving hot food and snacks and has a balcony overlooking the railway track. The River Severn is a short walk away and I would recommend a walk along the river down to Arley (about 50 minutes walk).
Didnt spend too much time here. Very busy due to the Engine Shed nearby. Lovely preserved railway station, great gardening. Some old rolling stock to view and a small picnic area too. View from the bridge was great but I liked being able to use the crossing over the actual tracks when safe.
Fantastic stations on the bank of the River Severn. The museum is fantastic for those interested in the history of the railway. The children especially enjoyed being able to go inside the trains and the carriages.
We did the enchanted express. When I booked it I thought it was a little expensive, however on the day the amount you received and what happened with the characters coming around and signing books and meeting Santa and the commemorative items it was worth the price. The train itself it beautiful and the ride was very scenic. I would recommend doing this
We visited the beautiful old station and stepped back in time. The place is kept clean and tidy and is run efficiently by its volunteer staff who are friendly and knowledgeable and will answer any questions you have. It is wonderful to watch the steam train enter the station, we were like excited kids as we heard the whistle blow in the distance. We didn't go on the train so can't comment on prices, train journey etc...
The children enjoy the shop, the locomotives up close on display, the exhibits and information, the restaurant and if course the play area - so do I.
