Hoghton Tower is an Elizabethan manor house in the heart of rural Lancashire. Our house, grounds and tea room are open from April until the end of September. Pre booking via our website. We are also a wedding venue and can be booked for your private events. School and private tours welcome by prior arrangement.
This unique historic family home is a definite must see if you are in the area!! Amazing 1000+ years of history, easy to find, and the most wonderful and knowledgeable staff and volunteers!! Even though we were the last tour of the day and a small bunch, we never once felt rushed and Tony welcomed every question we asked! We didn't get the chance to walk the gardens, take tea or stay over night, but this is definitely on our short list for things we must do on our next holiday to the UK!
What a beautiful day out. Free parking, with a short but uphill walk to the main building. I booked two tours: the buildings/history tour (which includes access to the gardens too) and the dolls house tour. Both are fascinating, and the three volunteers who led the tours were just lovely; helpful, informative, and interesting. I hadn't realised how long the house tour would take, so had kind-of double booked myself: the volunteers kindly pointed this out then arranged a workaround so I didn't miss any of the second tour. Finished the trip off with great coffee and a delicious cherry scone in the cafe, then a walk around the gardens.
Me and my partner visited this place yesterday and we were so impressed that I felt compelled to write a 5 star review. I booked our tickets online and I didn't even need to show my booking reference as they had already registered my booking for a tour at 1pm. We had lunch first and the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was good too and they make a great pot of tea. Our tour guide, Sue, was superb so we had an excellent and memorable tour. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place for a visit as it is lovely and quiet there with lovely views.
Absolutely love going this place, we go a lot for the car shows and events through the year. Past 2 times I've been I've done the basic tour around the estate. It's got so much history behind the walls ( and in the walls). The tour guides around the house are very informed and knowledgeable on all aspects. Definitely would recommend to anyone thinking of coming here
This is a total gem of a place to visit. It's a reasonable admission price and the tour was very interesting and informative. At 1.5 hours it's definitely worth a visit. However: if you like vast gardens you'll be disappointed, though what they do have are quaint and nicely done.
Visiting for the farmers market,3rd Sunday of the month. About 50 stalls mixed food and gifts. Plenty of parking,PS2 per car entrance. Did not go in the hall as it is a timed tour, and we had just missed the slot. Plenty of grassed area for dogs
