One of my favourite beaches; the walk through the woods and then onto miles and miles of white sandy beach. Dogs are allowed year round. A few restrictions in the spring/summer due to ground nesting birds. There is an ice cream van in the summer months and a cafe. But other than that it's nature that prevails.
Lovely beach, untapped beauty, clean, long stretch of sand, so never seems full of people. Underestimated the walk from the car park to the beachfront though. Its approximately 30min walk, carrying lots of equipment and food is quite tough. No shops/food nearby other than one cafe with 4 toilets where the queues to use were as long as 20mins. Definitely take a picnic hamper and plenty drinks. There is an ice-cream van at the exit to the carpark charging PS5 for a normal size whippy ice-cream, PS3 for a small. Cafe fairly overpriced at PS2.75 for a small packet of crisps as an example. Plenty of parking spaces and overflow parking available PS7 for 4 hours or PS9.50 for the day. Note carpark closes at 9pm daily. It does get windy so recommend wind blockers/tents. No deck chairs available to hire, so take a mat and foldable chairs where possible. Note you have to carry it all. Deffo worth the visit.
What a beautiful place for a walk, or a spot of birdwatching! Dog friendly, and a lovely little platform above the beach to admire the view. After rain, it gets VERY muddy between the top of the beach and the dunes, so bring boots or wellies. There's a cafe and toilets at the entrance, at the Lookout, but these are not 24/7. Would love a few more dog poo bins along the paths, though there are some benches. The car park had plenty of spaces, but quite muddy in the rain. If the weather is poor, the overflow car park will be flooded, so you may struggle to find parking. Recommend going mid week. There are paths along the tree line which are pretty mud free, and offer beautiful views out towards the dunes, and mud flats with plenty of bird life to watch on the reserves behind the trees. A great place for a walk with the dog as very dog friendly.
What a beautiful beach this is! Yes it is a bit of a trek from the car park, but it is so worth it with it's huge sweeping sands. Especially if you walk just an extra five minutes away from where the majority of people tend to set up! You can have a vast area all to yourself. Depending on the tides this is a beach which can involve a long trek to the sea to fill up the bucket! and for that reason be aware of the tide times as it is easy to get cut off if you are based away from the main area. If you're not a 'sitting on the beach' person there is the option to walk in the lovely pine woods or walk the coast path to the very pretty Burnham Overy Staithe and take the Coastliner bus back. Be aware the car park at Holkham is quite expensive at PS13.50 for the day or PS7 for four hours in 2024.
It is one of the best beaches to visit in the Norfolk coastal area. Clean beach . Large parking - a bit expensive PS3.50 for 2 hours PS7 for 4 hours There is a cafe near the car park. It has toilets as well. It's a long walk to the beach, especially in low tide. Almost 2 km walk from car park to the beach. Can spend a good few hours on the beach. Please go prepared with food, as once you reach the beach, it's quite a long walk to Cafe back. Overall, it was a great experience. Will come back next time.
Huge beach. The immediate beach is a nature reserve so dogs have to be kept on a lead. About a mile either side are dog friendly beaches covered in shells.
