A serene and secluded beach with fine golden sand, surrounded by picturesque dunes and pine trees, offering a tranquil atmosphere and stunning views of the North Norfolk coastline.
Nice walk, clean beach, dogs are kept on leads, you need good boots, take food as the local cafe sausage rolls PS4.50 and sandwich PS5.90, car park PS3.50 for the day, large car park, I took my motor home, easy access and turning point. Staffed gate, and it's a conservation area.
This has got to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the UK. I was quite stunned, to be honest, as I've gotten used to pebble beaches, with sandy water. This beach is located within a nature reserve and it is pristine. You walk through a forest, and when the tide is low you walk for about 20 minutes until you reach the sea. We were able to take our buggy almost all the way and our two young kids loved every minute of it. The low tide meant there was a river of crystal clear water running back to the sea, which was ideal for splashing around safely and crab-hunting. The dunes and forest are great to play in (hide & seek), the open space is great for kite-flying and the necessary amenities (toilets, visitor centre, parking) were all easy to navigate and, I felt, reasonably priced (PS6 for 4 hours). There are no amenities on the beach itself; this is not the place for amusements or a fish & chip stand. It's secluded, vast and breathtaking.
First time visiting, super busy lots of dog walkers aswell as families. I have very mixed feelings regarding Holkam, parking was a choice of 2 hrs, 4hrs or allday. Opted for the allday so we didn't feel pressured to leave within a certain time. PS13.50 later..... Being a dog friendly beach I was very shocked at the lack of dog waste bins, literally 2 at the beginning of the entrance near lookout. None before the bridge to the beach which would stop owners leaving their bags of dog business at the foot of the walkway entering the beach stinking. Long trek to the sea itself but worth it when we got there, our pooch had a lovely time going into the sea for the first time. Perfect if it's a relaxed day out you are looking for. Super busy so be wary when parking your car or walking back to the car I witnessed a gentleman almost get hit. Had a lovely ice cream to finish our visit. Unfortunately not a location I would recommend
Beautiful beach that literally goes on and on. The sand is golden and the sand dunes are white powdery sand that your feet sink in to. Usually a breeze but even on a spring day, it's glorious. You can get quite disoriented here so bear that in mind and also pay attention to tide times as you can get cut off but the water as it comes in down the part where you access the car park first. Endless forest walks here off the beach plus a fab cafe called the Lookout looking out over the marshes and wildlife there. Perfect afternoon or evening day out here.
Lovely clean beach but a bit of a walk from the car park. Very soft sand and loads of space.
While Holkham Beach is a popular destination, it is also known for its vast expanse of sand and dunes, which means that even on busy days, there is plenty of space for everyone. Plus, the beach is so large that it's easy to find a secluded spot to relax and enjoy the scenery.
