The fort is roughly oval in shape, measuring approximately 220 meters by 180 meters, and is surrounded by a single rampart and ditch. The hillfort is thought to have been constructed in the 1st century BC, and its purpose is believed to have been for defense and settlement. The site has yielded several archaeological finds, including Iron Age pottery and coins, as well as Roman artifacts. Today, the hillfort is a scheduled ancient monument and is open to the public for exploration.

A fabulous part of our local ancient history. This is a circular bank and ditch now surrounded by a council run golf course. There's a public right of way but do watch out for/give way to the golfers. Lovely views. Skylarks in summer. Great potential for hide and seek in the gorse bushes...
