This 17th-century coaching inn is nestled in the picturesque village of Holman Clavel, surrounded by rolling hills and countryside. The inn's rustic charm is evident in its exposed beams, stone walls, and roaring log fires. Its restaurant serves traditional British cuisine using locally sourced ingredients, and the bar offers a range of real ales and fine wines. The inn's 12 en-suite bedrooms are individually decorated, blending modern comforts with period character. Guests can enjoy scenic walks, cycling, and horse riding in the surrounding countryside.
Lovely meal out with my mum today. Our first visit to the Holman Clavel Inn today, but we will visit again. I had the pork loin from the specials board, and my mum had the lamb rump. Thank you.
While the dishes at Holman Clavel Inn, such as the delightful Whitebait, Pork Belly main course, and Chocolate Cheesecake, were delicious, I must note that the service was incredibly slow. This aspect detracted from an otherwise enjoyable dining experience. The Whitebait dish offered a taste of the sea, crispy and bursting with flavour. The Pork Belly main course was a culinary masterpiece, featuring tender pork and exquisite seasoning. The luscious Chocolate Cheesecake was a delightful finish. Though the slow service was a downside, the flavours and quality of the dishes were commendable.
It was such a joy to pull up opposite the pub. The outside area was full of people chatting and laughing. Clearly a lot of people knew each other, but all were welcome. This happy atmosphere continued inside. I was attending a birthday dinner - the food was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff were all delightful and helpful. AND there dogs well around: on laps lying on the floor, standing with their owners at the bar. All were beautifully behaved and made it an even more homely and sociable place. WONDERFUL.
We ate there tonight , the lady that looked after us is a credit to the owner, she was lovely, made you feel so welcome. Food was 5 star, home made, full of flavour, large portions. It was lovely to have a proper homemade lasagne that had seen the cow!!
Had Sunday lunch at Holman Clavel Inn today and what a gorgeous lunch it was too From the moment we arrived, we had a friendly welcome, the pub was packed but they couldn't do enough for us. Our order was taken promptly and the meal was served within a short time. The meat was succulent and plenty, great roast potatoes, vegetables and Yorkshire puds! The desserts were great too. A bustling atmosphere! Excellent value for money. Thank you to all the staff there - you're doing a great job. We hope to be back.
Lovely food. Great location. Small animals out back. Garden seating. You need to book a table to eat though!
