A network of trails run through this scenic nature preserve with grasslands, heath & a raised bog.
A beautiful spot that feels untouched by people! The paths are clear and easy to follow but you can go off path and explore as well. There is some road parking on both sides, but not a huge amount, however I've never had an issue getting a spot as it's generally very quiet. It's the perfect place for mushroom photography as well!
Such a lovely place to go for a walk. Especially for fungi lovers. Some places quite muddy so wear proper shoes. Lots of different routes to explore. Be mindful that parking is on the side of the road.
Wonderful walk with the dog through dappled sunshine. We saw and heard geese, spotted lots of small puffball type fungi, wild mint, magnificent rowanberries, dragon and damsel flies. I feel privileged to live so close to such a wonderful sight. (NB Leave plenty of time to wait at the level crossing and drive carefully on badly worn and bumpy road.)
Love it here, perfect for a long and peaceful dog walk. Lots of places to park and ansolutely huge, do many different tracks/ trails. Its rare to see anyone else, which is just what you need sometimes. Lots to see too if wildlife, birds, mushrooms etc are your thing. One of my very favourite places
There was a road closure which I guess would have taken me to the main part. After a little diversion, I ended up parking by Jackson's Covert (small road were you park along the verge) We decided to walk around Jackson's Covert to see the big lake. It was beautiful! 11am on a Sat morning and was SO quiet! We only saw 1 other person on the trail. Lots of birds singing. The lake is crystal clear. Looking forward to going back and exploring the other side.
Always lovely and peaceful loads to spot and see such an enjoyable walk for some fresh air.
