This 19th-century Victorian mansion is nestled in 10 acres of beautiful gardens and woodland, offering a tranquil retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The house boasts elegant rooms with period features, luxurious furnishings, and stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Guests can unwind in the comfortable lounge, enjoy a delicious breakfast in the dining room, and explore the picturesque village of Holne nearby.
If you like camping and you want to enjoy a great experience I highly recommend River Dart Country Park. We camped here for 5 nights and are plenty things to do: high ropes, low ropes, bike track, swimming in the river, playing around a pirate ship or walk around and enjoy the landscape.
A great day out for the family, with lots of water activities available. It's a bit disappointing that so many of the activities are an additional cost on top of the admission fee. This is offset by the free return within 7 days option. As locals we came for the day but this is primarily set up for camping, which I'm sure would be great. Bring food though, as the on site shop doesn't have that much.
We visited River Dart Country Park as day visitor. PS12 entrance fee just to go in for a few hours is a bit expensive maybe because my kids are too old for their slides and play areas. I cannot help myself comparing with Crealy theme park where you can spend whole day with many rides and facilities. Entrance fee is way too expensive. I know there is a huge area to maintain but there were not much to do except for individually paid activities for teenagers. Fantastic for kids under 10 yrs though. We tried High Ropes and Kayaking. Each activity with its own fee. PS19 for High Rope and PS6 for kayaking(30 mins). High ropes was fun and totally worth the money. It took us 1 hour to finish. My daughter thought it was scarier than it looked from under. You have to be over 10 yrs but I saw younger children who came with family couldn't really go by herself and needed a help from a staff. Boulder climbing was a new activity which was way too expensive(PS10) for its size. It is so small and you will reach the top in no time. Not worth it. Kayaking was reasonable but done in small confinement. I thought you would follow the stream and come back but you only circle around tiny lake. I didn't use restaurant so cannot comment on it but bought a small pastie(PS3.95) yummy but pricy for a size. Snack shop was selling pasties, drinks, ice cream and water sports goods. Bring your own food coz there is not much. I can suggest the best way that you can make the most of your money is to camp there. Camp fee is similar to other camp sites but inclusive of park admission fee. Bring your own wetsuits, a dinghy, water guns...etc. Parents can relax in a camp site and children have plenty to occupy themselves in water area and play areas. Toilet was nice and clean. Hand sanitizer was everywhere.
Loads of free fun to be had on the lake and in the woodland walks. Really nice camp site, though some of the pitches are on a slope. Nice food available on site with a bar.
High ropes across the massive big trees! It seems to be funny for some and for others too scary that they couldn't move any further! The allowance maximum body weight is 80kg, I'm 85kg and I didn't bother to try it. I think it is pretty safe, despite some people getting stuck in fear, especially very young children.
Absolutely brilliant! So much to do for all ages. It may have taken us 8 hrs in all to get there but we all want to go back for another adventure.
