A picturesque waterfall located in the Peak District National Park, Hothfield Waterfall cascades down a rocky slope, creating a misty veil that rises into the air. The waterfall's source is a small stream that flows from the surrounding moorland, and its gentle flow creates a serene atmosphere, perfect for relaxation and contemplation. The surrounding landscape is characterized by lush greenery, with ferns and moss covering the rocks and trees, adding to the waterfall's natural beauty. Visitors can walk behind the waterfall, exploring the damp, moss-covered cavern, and enjoy the cool mist on a warm day. The waterfall's tranquil ambiance makes it an ideal spot for picnics, photography, and simply enjoying nature's splendor.
This is the most peaceful beautiful place ever. However none of you are invited. I had to fine some tourists from the Medway for being here yesterday PS59 per person. So it may sound or look like a beautiful peaceful haven but think again.
A small waterfall formed by the overflow from a lake. It's not fed by a mountain stream so there's little to no flow after long dry spells, but when I visited after a period of very heavy rain it was in full flow, and one of the more dramatic freely accessible waterfalls in southeast England. There's a small amount of informal roadside parking a couple of minutes walk up the road from the lake viewpoint. Very muddy after heavy rain.
Interesting local historical site, tranquil lake and views across former parkland of Hothfield Place.
A great little feature for a nice walk. Relatively easy to walk up to or easy to see from the road if it's too muddy. Linked to a couple of walking routes in the local area or relatively straightforward to walk down from Hothfield village.
Not many waterfalls in Kent and this one is normally more of a trickle. Not now...you want to see it after all the rain. Really gushing and the stream it feeds is quite a torrent now. Should've taken a piccie!
Did not see any waterfall.
