This historic shed, situated at the pier, offers a glimpse into Hythe's rich maritime past. The old building's rustic charm and original features have been preserved, showcasing the town's industrial heritage. Visitors can explore the shed, which now serves as a museum, and discover exhibits that highlight Hythe's shipbuilding history, its role in the maritime trade, and the lives of the people who worked on the pier.
A little bit of history the worlds oldest electric pier railway. Needs a little bit of TLC but you certainly get the feel of history when you go on it. Great views.
Well all I can say is we loved the ride on the train PS2 . Went one way and walked back. Really good value. Heaps of history.
How does one explain the phenomenon that is " The Shed " ? Well it's based on the idea of the men's shed but is fully inclusive of ladies also. Come down and visit . You'll get a warm welcome and tea and bikkies. Our primary purpose is to look after each other and restore the train on Hythe Pier. It is a joy to be there in good company on a sunny day at high tide and any other day. To enjoy the raft race , the Hythe Rock the Pier, a barbie on Bonfire night. To share the camaraderie of your fellows. To find new friends to share good and bad experiences with. To share your life skills and experiences . Am I proud to be a member ? Too bloody right mate
Very nice place with a lot of shops and it speciality...1st electric train in the UK
World's oldest continuously operational pier train is the main attraction. The pier itself is in dire need of maintenance and the views aren't that great unless you really like looking at boats.
Fantastic value to access the pier and ride the train. Incredible to think the train had been running so long. Also, the messages on the planks were moving. First time I'd seen something like this done - a nice idea!
