Ifield Watermill is believed to be the only working Watermill in West Sussex which is still powered by its original water source (the Ifield millpond). The Mill is open on selected Sundays throughout the summer months and by request.
I'm a member of Crawley Amateur Radio Club, and the volunteers at the mill kindly allowed us to set-up our special events station for the annual Mills on the Air event. Even though I only live in East Grinstead it was my first visit. It's such a lovely place, with lots of interactive demos held throughout the day, and helpful volunteers. Very much worth a visit. I will bring my wife next time. Free entry as well.
Fascinating bit of Crawley/Ifield history. It's a beautiful old water mill. Who would've known..
Beautiful place to walk. Yesterday I had a chance to look inside for the first time. The beautiful interior of this three-story, fully operational mill is a real treat for those interested in the history of the region. I recommend to everyone. The mill can be visited once a month. First opening on April 30 at 2 pm.
Pretty place hidden away in Field on a great walk around the lake.
A little nugget of history into some of this industry that shaped the development of the town and indeed the country. The volunteers running and keeping up the condition of the mill were knowledgeable and helpful
