This reserve in the Scottish Highlands is a haven for nature lovers, featuring ancient Caledonian pine forest, heather-covered moorland, and sparkling lochs. The landscape is dotted with granite tors, and the air is filled with the sweet scent of blaeberry and the songs of birds such as capercaillie, osprey, and dotterel. The reserve's diverse habitats support a wide range of wildlife, including red deer, roe deer, and pine martens, while its tranquil atmosphere makes it an ideal spot for walking, hiking, and simply connecting with nature.
Fantastic parking spots along the B road ... even better walk in and lots of features to mark the way in. You. An Munro hop easily and lots of different ways out on circular routes.
Beautiful walk through part of the reserve heading upto sgor Gaoith, well worth investigating more
From the parking area a track leads up hill through a forestry plantation, and then an excellent rocky path ascends further through wonderful rejuvenated Scots pine forest. At higher levels, the path leaves the trees behind and heads across open country, eventually reaching the high plateau above. Sgor Gaoith is certainly worth the effort for excellent far-reaching views.
A beautiful spot. Car park closed right now until Spring 2022 but plenty of off road parking quite nearby. Beautiful and well kept path, stunning scenery
