This museum showcases the history and heritage of Invergordon and the surrounding area, with exhibits on the town's naval and military past, its role in World War II, and the local whisky industry. The museum also features a collection of artifacts and memorabilia, including photographs, documents, and personal items, which provide insight into the lives of the people who lived and worked in Invergordon.
A great museum considered it is in a small town. Very nice staff and they kindly told some history of the town. Got some vintage cameras that I am very interested in. After visiting the museum, I recommend go outside and turn left, got some good view and nice thing that u just learned. Unfortunately the day I visited is raining, otherwise a good place to stay for a while outside the museum.
A great place to stop with a really good collection of artifacts and memorabilia that takes you back in time. The nautical and maritime history includes artifacts recovered from the sea that make it particularly intresting to seafarers.
Great little museum with a history of hosting British Military and allies during WWII. Good size for the area. About 30-45 minutes to see it. Free admission/donation requested.
A museum with a great variety of exhibits from the past covering the social history of Invergordon. There is a lot of information on the Navy as Invergordon was an important naval base in both world wars. The displays describe the events of a disaster when HMS Natal's ammunition magazine exploded on New Year's Eve in 1915 resulting with the ship sinking and a large loss of life. Other displays cover the oil industry as the port services North Sea oil rigs. There is a large medical section describing past practices and treatments. Local social history is also covered. The museum is an interesting place to visit, and relies on donations for support, with no entrance fee.
Excellent Museum! No entrance fee, donations box. Has some crafts and souvenirs on sale. Friendly staff, customer toilets. Open when cruise ships in and check for other times. Worth the visit.
Small but interesting museum, free entry.
