The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary has been a haven for rescued donkeys since 1987, became a registered charity in 1991, and has been at its' current site since 1994.
What a sweet experience visiting the donkeys. The staff are friendly and welcoming. It is free to get in and there is a donation box if you wish to leave one. The donkeys have a lot of space to roam around. We got to see them at feeding time and the staff had everything under control espeically when some got agitated over the food. There is a cafe for a bite to eat and plenty of toilet facilities. There is also a lovely gift shop. It is a lovely trip out for all ages.
Lovely place to visit we had a great time. The staff were really lovely and gave us loads of information about the donkeys. There's not many places that keeps three teenagers entertained for a few hours but they loved it here.
Lovely friendly staff, welcoming to children and dogs. Hot chocolates were delicious and the donkeys were adorable! The gift shop was fantastic and good value for money!
We love this place. Realistically, it's not a whole day out, but you can book a free tour online, I paid for my girls to do the donkey grooming each which they loved and the ladies were wonderful, as were the donkeys. Nice cafe, gift shop, nature walk, you can stroke the donkeys too. I'd rather spend my money here and know it goes to a good cause. We noticed the vast improvements made in the 2 years since our last visit. Highly recommend, do book the experiences online in advance to avoid missing out.
Super dog friendly and very worthwhile visitor attraction. Lovely walks around several paddocks and barns where petting of animals is often possible. Excellent gift shop and cafe restaurant and nice meadow walks. Children's play area too. Free parking and entry and very friendly staff. A place you will wants to retun to time and again....Amazing sheep too
Had a lovely free tour by a friendly & knowledgeable volunteer yesterday. I booked the tour online in advance. Learned much about the donkeys there & love their stories. Met a few super friendly donkeys too! They love petting! Chatted with some more volunteers, their big smiles did impress me. Had a light lunch in the cafe with live saxophone playing. My kids love the play area too!
