Free-to-visit museum and history centre hosting temporary exhibitions and children's events.
A great local museum off the beaten track. My only grumble was that due to staff shortages, it was closed for an hour at lunchtime which was the exact time I went. Waited in the nearby pub. Other than that, a really interesting place with a focus on the local area which is great as someone who grew up around there. It's small so not overwhelming. Huge variety of information ranging from the local football club to healthcare past and present. Loads of fascinating facts.
We walked here from the knights of St John museum. Clerkenwell is an interesting area to walk around and beautifully quiet area of a weekend. This museum is an interesting insight in to the history of local area and has some great artifacts to look at. Unfortunately it fairly unwelcoming. The scruffy concrete steps take you down to a dirty facade and on entering the receptionist barely glanced up from her laptop. Just 'hello" would of been nice. On leaving I thanked her and said goodbye. The response was a grunt. Still worth a visit if you are in the area though.
Very cute, cool little museum! Definitely a hidden gem to spend 30 mins at :)
The Lenin bust is great! Islington has a tonne of revolutionary history!
Islington Museum has collected quite interesting expositions of historical artefacts. Also, there is a nice play area for kids as well as a toy cafe and a kid's kitchen with a couple of historical things.
A lovely little free museum detailing the history of Islington. I found the radicals section and the bust of Lenin particularly interesting.
