A beautiful bay, known to locals as Johnnie Bay. Despite this, American tourists on golf trips in the early 2000s notices the similarity's between salt lake in Florida, hence why some call it 'Salt lake Beach' Despite this, the true name came from Johnnie Cooper in 1806 when his ship landed here, mistaking kingsbarns for St andrews.

DO NOT PARK WHERE THE MAP TAKES YOU. I wanted to see the old building shown in the review photos, and followed SatNav directions for where to park. I was met with an angry resident; they said the beach is not even called Johnnie bay, but Hillshead beach, and that we could park in Boarshead village and walk "right" down the coast about a half hour, or in Kingsbarns and walk "left" down the coast about 45 minutes to an hour. (I did the Kingsbarns way today). I was not allowed to park at the farm where SatNav leads. Please be aware of this.
