The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway first opened in 1867 to provide coal and textiles to the local mills. It closed in 1962 and re-opened in 1968 as a heritage railway, with thanks to a dedicated group of local enthusiasts. We are the only complete, preserved standard gauge branch line in the world. Journey back in time and enjoy five miles of stunning scenery and beautifully preserved stations along the way. The railway makes a great day out for both families and enthusiasts. The railway is popular with film and TV producers and has starred in a number of productions such as The Railway Children, Peaky Blinders and more recently, Dumbo and Official Secrets.

Beautiful railway and all of the staff were very helpful. We visited Bank Holiday Sunday and loved the atmosphere. Three ladies were singing on the platform as we waited to depart from the station, which really made you feel as though you had stepped back in time. They were fab. I went with my family and took my nearly 2 year old son who loves trains, and he thoroughly enjoyed himself.

Had a fabulous day today celebrating my dad's 81st birthday. What a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The staff couldn't be more helpful, attentive and obliging. A special shout out to Liam! What a charming young man. Would definitely recommend this to anyone - young or old.

Wonderful. Friendly staff, friendly fellow passengers, everybody wholly behind recreating how railways were. Yes ... the environmental car crash of burning coal to make steam to move people is well documented, but here you get the romanticism, knowing that the world has also moved on. But it's hard not to love it. The raw power that transformed our society. So enjoy the slice of history, at the same time as picturing king's cross when eight trains were firing up to leave for the North ... A "must" experience ....

Had a great day out on the K&WVR. Bought a day rover ticket which is excellent value and means you can ride the trains as much as you like and visit the various attractions at each of the beautifully restored stations* *Keighley station is undergoing some building works at present. All the staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. I can highly recommend a visit!

We bought all day tickets for the steam train and diesel train. We hopped off and on most journeys. By careful planning we rode the steam train more often than the diesel. The ride was much more comfortable than the diesel. A small suggestion here. It would be helpful if a timetable on display somewhere would show the passing points of the 2 trains. That way it does away with long waits at stations for the steam train. We were impressed with all the buildings on all the stations which are preserved as they were. We loved the open fires. The souvenir shops had different items to buy and kept our attention.

At my big age I got so excited to receive a paper ticket and get a hole punched in it on the train! The steam train is so fun, everyone gets a table and lots of airflow for warm summer days, and there was no crowd when I went during summer holidays. I rode the steam train to Haworth and the diesel train back to Keighley; both were terribly fun and not too expensive for the experience!
