Heritage railway operating along 10.5 miles of preserved track between Tenterden Town in Kent to Bodiam in East Sussex. A day out that the entire family can enjoy, we are proud of our reputation of uniting the generations. Typically open weekends and some weekdays from Mothering Sunday to end October. A range of travel, dining experiences and behind the scenes and railway experiences are available to book.
I visited the railway during a break in my journey so that I could get some lunch and have a look around, the staff and volunteers were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. I paid for a platform ticket so that I could get the cafe which was an exceptionally reasonable PS1. An added bonus was being able to use the ticket for a discount in the cafe, I chose not too and the team in the cafe were really appreciative. Options for hot and cold food in the cafe were good with various drinks available as well. Inside and outside seating areas were clean and tidy and nice to use. Overall the railway is a lovely place to visit for a stop off and visit, use the cafe, take a look at some of the trains and support a really good attraction in the southeast. I'd highly recommend a visit for a ride on the trains as well.
This was our first visit, inspired due to Mr Doodle attending to doodle a train carriage that day. The volunteer team were very friendly and helpful. My toddler and I enjoyed an ice cream bought onsite whilst we watched the art being created. There were other things to see and do. On site there was free parking, toilets, a cafe and model railway. Take your 20p and 50p coins to operate it, my 3 year old loved it.
Delighted with this charming attraction. Free parking and museum support this very well run old train line. Nice attention to detail with the staff in uniforms, old adverts on the walls as well as exhibits in old train cars at the stations. The steam train took us from Tenterden to Bodium, the country around is unspoiled and we saw Buzzards and deer. The castle is worth a visit and the pub provided an excellent lunch at Bodium, in time to return through the countryside to Tenterden. The staff wave at the trains as they arrive and leave, which is a lovely touch. The volunteers here do a great job and should be proud of what they do.
Was a lovely trip with the children and grandchildren on a steam train, nice little walk to Bodiam castle at the end with a picnic. Return journey was ok but had just ordinary chairs like from a dining room, and some people were sat on the floor.
Absolutely great bunch of people running this beautiful old railway. They were all very informative, and each man had a job to do. We took the steam train to Bodium and then walked up to the castle. Even though it was on and off rain, we had a great day. Thanks for all your hard work, guys. Without enthusiastic people like you, this would be just another part of our history lost and forgotten
Amazing day out. Really friendly staff, beautiful scenery. Try and make a day of it with the unlimited day ticket. Go end to end to start with then get off at every station using the timetable to get yo your next destination. Great fun.
