Great days out for the whole family. Kentwell Hall dates back to the 1500 and is one of England's finest moated Tudor houses with acres of stunning, family-friendly gardens and grounds. This charming family friendly venue offers something for everyone and throughout the year runs a variety of family events, re-creations and children's events. Kentwell's organic gardens and grounds are a combination of ancient features and more recent modern landscaping and planting that offers the visitor visual displays of seasonal colour and fragrance all the year round. With tranquil water features and the many interesting sculptures that are all around the grounds give this garden a unique and magical feel.
This is a special place. I remember visiting when I was 8 or 9 and it stayed with me and now I enjoy bringing my own family. It's beautiful all year round but especially fun and engaging for my 8 year old when it's a living history day. We came when it was a tudor day and it really was amazing. We all loved every minute. We had a lovely hot lunch which was really tasty ( much better than the usual sandwich affair you get at other trust or heritage places) Can't wait to come again - we are already planning our next visit!
An inspiring visit to a beautiful Tudor and earlier country house in the never ending process of restoration. A wondrous look back at stunning kitchen , where the ovens were still warm from a previous historic recreation week. A fantastic old brew house. The interior of the main building houses many fascinating artefacts and decor effects with personal explanations by the owner. Finally a wander around the grounds led to an exploration of the burgeoning kitchen garden. Lastly tea and Victoria sponge in the inviting restaurant ended a great day out.
We visited on one of the 1535 Tudor experience days. It was a very interesting and educational day I can't believe how well it was done, the 'actors' were really living as if in the time period, fascinating and enjoyed by both adults and children. A beautiful house and grounds I would highly recommended visiting.
We went to Kentwell Hall for the Magic Weekend Event. It could not have been better. All the volunteers were clearly so passionate about their department and interest, they went above and beyond to ensure that everyone had a great time. There was something for everyone! We will definitely be returning, the staff were great from the gift shop to the cafe, the food was really good and excellent value for money. A wholesome day out 10/10.
Such a magical place, so much more than the utterly fabulous Hall itself. There are many buildings, a forge, cottages, even a hovel! All are wonderfully staged and a delight to photograph. I am not a gardener, but you cannot fail to be impressed with the scale and ambition of the gardens especially the trees. You can sit and have a coffee and a bite to eat to recharge the batteries for a second look. Everything is wonderfully labelled with clear signs to make things easier to understand. There is just so much of it. We were there for 4 hours and could easily have stayed longer. Great for children, even old ones like myself who was amazed by the camera obscura, see the fifth photo!
Just discovered this beautiful place! Amazing set up and facilities. Gardens and grounds are stunning. The hall is well worth a visit. Staff friendly and welcoming. Good home cooked food and reasonable prices. Highly recommend. We will be return and attend events.
