Keswick Museum is a fabulous day out for all the family, with great exhibitions, events and activities throughout the year. The Museum tells the story of Keswick and its surrounding area from its earliest history through to the present day. Situated in Fitz Park, the Museum is housed in a lovely Arts and Crafts building only a few minutes walk from the Town Centre. Relax after in the fantastic Cafe West or explore the Gift Shop with its wide range of items from books on local history to bespoke items inspired by the collection.
Small but interesting museum and art gallery with a few activities for kids to do, great also as paying once let's you visit again for a year. Nice dog friendly cafe with lovely staff which leads outside also toilets and a lift between the two floors
I travelled for three hours each way and stayed overnight in Keswick in order to visit this museum... and I am so glad I did. Yes, it is small, but I spent two hours there and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The exhibits on display are well chosen and attractively presented, and with the accompanying information create a coherent story of the Lake District right from its geological formation to its development as a tourist attraction. This museum, in my opinion, is an absolute gem.
PS7 extremely small, not alot to see only two rooms. If you don't have children keep your money and give this museum a skip. Sorry to be harsh but I was beyond disappointed and annoyed.
Nice little museum! Ticket valid for 1 yr!
Absolutely fantastic museum. Explains the history of the area. I really enjoyed the musical stones. The whole museum is compact but very enjoyable. Cafe was not open which is strange considering the museum was packed.
This is a fairly small museum with a lot of exhibits and interesting information. I never know knew that about the Three Bears or Thirlmere Reservoir. The gift area is also worth a look around. A lot of locally made items. The ticket lasts a year so worth it, particularly if you plan coming back to Keswick.
