Killyleagh Castle Towers is a 14th-century castle situated on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Irish Sea in County Down, Northern Ireland. The castle's architecture is a mix of medieval and Tudor styles, with a large central keep surrounded by four smaller towers. The towers are connected by a curtain wall, which forms an inner courtyard. The castle's exterior walls are constructed from local stone, with battlements and machicolations adding to its defensive features. Despite being partially ruined, the castle still exudes a sense of grandeur and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding coastline.
Absolutely beautiful didn't realise it's actually a private residence! The owners kindly leave the gates open so the public are able to view the castle. The architecture is just incredible.
An unexpected sight in the centre of a small village, its worth a stop to have a look. The gardens in front on the entrance is beautifully laid out. The castle is privately owned and not open to the public, but the owners very kindly leave the gates open so passers-by can take a look from the entrance way.
Castle is very nice to look at, unfortunately you can not go any further than the main gates so really it's just a photo opportunity.
Google asking me to review a private residence is weird but here goes. Not open to the public. Looks nice though. Next door not so much. Perhaps the owners could help out with that.
What a beautiful castle in Killyleagh. My granddaughter was amazed at it asking "was the princess in the castle today". What a little girl's dream come true to see a real castle. It has been well preserved & maintained by the Hamilton family. A big assert to the small local village. Well worth a visit to the area.
Fairytale like castle in Killyleagh. It's privately owned, so you can only catch a glimpse from the entrance gate. It's a nice little village and worth stopping for a snack and look at the stunning castle.
Good for kids
