Museum of archaeology displaying ancient artefacts found in an area rich with prehistoric sites.
Fantastic, newly re-furnished museum with excellent cafe. Walk the full length of the valley to get a sense of the importance of the place over the millennia.
This is a great museum with world class objects. It has very good, well thought out near past cultural references. I particularly liked that it included contemporary art which although it takes up only a small space complements the main body of the museum very well.
Great museum with friendly staff. Good cafe, but the hours should be realigned with the museum opening hours. We walked in just before 3pm, we were told the cafe closes at 4pm. ( the museum closes at 5pm). Sat down for a few minutes , decided what to have. Then when we tried to order the food, we were told they had stopped hot food. Very disappointing and poor communication. They could do so much more as the cafe is lovely and having eaten on previous occasions the food is lovely.
Wonderful museum with some "hands on" things (not only) for kids, lots of information, very friendly staff
Brand new museum, highlighting the local history, in theory, but really applicable to anywhere in the country. Fabulously presented, though the video presentation at the end was laughable and put a downer on the visit. We did the walk from the museum and it was underwhelming, to say the least. Museum well worth a visit but don't base your day around it.
Loved the outside exhibition of Cairns and some of the history along with them. Would love to get back again for some of the information indoors as we arrived around 5 PM and everyone was closing up. Prepare to walk quite a distance and some hiking included, well worth it and not bad for anyone who can walk a few miles. Lovely cows nearby and sheep too. Slainte mhath
