This 13th-century castle in Northamptonshire, England, features a mix of medieval and Tudor architecture, with a Great Hall, a chapel, and a courtyard surrounded by high walls and towers.
Amazing piece of history, just the walls left standing but as it's almost 1000 years old, that's acceptable. Accessed by the most beautiful walk along a canal. Totally worth it
Very nice walk along the canal and nice to see the castle ruins with some interesting history boards
Lovely little historic castle ruin with some nice little information boards and a rather pleasant, very short walk by the canal from the small parking area.
Loved the fact it's got history to read! Worth the hike along the water. Watch out for the nettles! They sting #dubstheminpin
Great place for a little walk with a bit of history. Not much to do here but quiet and nice to look around. Parking is very limited I would suggest parking in the village and walking or find around the local area
Sadly there is not much left of the old King John's Castle. Awesome peaceful walk to the castle while you enjoy a half km walk, while taking in the scenery. Still can't believe this was his hunting castle. Yes that's right his hunting castle, not his hunting cabin or house, his castle. Definitely a lot of history, if you enjoy reading there are signs around the castle. Just follow the signs on where to park and walk across the bridge where you will see a sign with a castle and pointing in the direction you need to walk. See attached photos.
