What an incredible 2 hours my wife and I had with Joanne at Kintail Birds of Prey. The experience was truly one of a kind. Joanne is extremely knowledgeable about the birds she cares for, and she obviously cares about them deeply. We were first introduced to Digger, the Little Owl, followed by the Barn Owls, Tawny Owl, huge Eagle Owls, a Kestrel, Peregrine Falcons, Goshawk, and finally to Heidi - a magnificent Golden Eagle. We were shown how to hold them, and given the opportunity to hold each one of the beautiful birds, including Heidi, which was just amazing. Feeling the difference in weight between the small owls, which weigh next to nothing, and the massive Heidi, who weighs about the same as a small car, was really surprising. We then had the chance to fly some of the birds ourselves, learning how they are trained and seeing them in action. Feeling the speed and power of a Peregrine Falcon swooping and snatching the lure was truly awesome. I highly recommend a visit to Kintail Birds of Prey - a unique experience which is both educational and hugely enjoyable. Thanks to Joanne for a fantastic morning. We will definitely visit again when we are next in the area.
This was truly amazing! Joanne told us so many interesting facts about the different kinds of birds she has and taught us how to hold and fly them. Heidi the eagle is absolutely massive and I could hold her for about 30 seconds (which I thought was quite impressive until Joanne said she could hold her for 40 minutes!). Wonderful to see all the different personalities of the birds as well, no one bird is the same. We did many fun things on our roadtrip through Scotland, but this experience definitely made it into the Top 3!
An absolutely amazing experience. This was my Birthday present, one of the best I've had. Joanne is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about birds of prey and it was great to get to handle and fly them. Heidi the golden eagle made my arm ache!. Can't recommend a visit highly enough.
Such an amazing find! It's down a single track path, which is easily navicable and well worth the journey. We e mailed Joanne for a next day visit and managed to get a space! I can't recommend it enough. Joanne met us at the gate, and her knowledge is amazing and she has a great selection of amazing birds. You'll get to hold them on your arm, and feed them as they fly to you for their reward. Thank you so much for our experience Joanne.
Simply the best falconry experience. My husband and I spent a morning getting to hold, feed and fly some of Joanne's beautiful birds. Even in that short time, it was easy to see some of their wonderful and cheeky personalities. Highly recommend and we'll be visiting again in the future.
I took my teenage son to an amazing bird-watching experience, hoping to ignite his interest. As soon as we arrived, we were blown away by the beauty of the place and the variety of bird species. We had a blast learning about the birds, taking photos, and even getting the chance to fly them. The host made the whole experience super fun and informative. I highly recommend this place for kids, young adults, and anyone with a curious spirit!
